Meadowlands: Saturday 7/7 Analysis

CHAMPIONSHIP MEET STATS: 77 - 213 / $421.00

Best Bet: DROP THE BALL (12th)     Spot Play: SWEET LOU (5th)

Race 1

(6) POP COP tossed in his only bad effort on a half-mile track. The bigger oval combined with a substantial class drop should do the trick. (1) BESTJETYET has been racing well. Tonight’s spot is easier than last week. (2) VAVOOMSTER finally draws well; should help.

Race 2

(2) MONEY ON MY MIND should have a good chance of controlling the action and seems worth a shot at a decent price. (4) POSSESS THE WILL makes his first start of 2012 and certainly has Hambo aspirations. I respect his chances but realize this is not the goal. (3) LIGHTNING STORM has displayed plenty of trot; capable.

Race 3

This is certainly a tough race. While I’m not loving my top pick of (6) DONTTELLPORKIES N, he seems to be in form, finds a good spot, and was Tetrick’s choice. (2) BLUE CLAW drops back down and should bring a decent try. (7) VEAL MARSALA is another getting class relief; must use. (1) BOLERO ANDREW was a good second last time.

Race 4

(2) TAXED raced well in defeat against a top 3yo last week and seems sharp enough to get a win at this level. (4) ROCKWEILLER was faced with some tough fractions in his most recent. There doesn’t seem to be much in his way of making the top tonight. (6) ARTS IDEAL HANOVER has the ability. Does he need a start?

Race 5

(2) SWEET LOU gave his all in the NA Cup but came up a bit short. After two miles of 1:48 or lower, he figures to benefit by the three week break and should come back fit and ready. (4) A ROCKNROLL DANCE showed what he can do in the Hempt final at Pocono. I’d expect Gingras to leave here and probably wind up sitting the pocket behind Lou. (1A) ALLSTAR LEGEND has the early speed adavantage on many of these and usually works out a good trip. (7) HURRIKANE KINGCOLE is not helped by the outside draw. We know he can win, but it is hard to know what to expect.

Race 6

(4) MEL MARA didn’t knock my socks off in his win last week but gets a very important driver switch to George Brennan. Lachance is a Hall of Fame driver but Brennan makes horse go faster. I fully expect this son of Lis Mara to pick up his game a notch or two. (7) BOLT THE DUER never seems to put in a bad race. He is a must on every ticket. (1) PET ROCK sports a fine record if you can toss the efforts in Canada. It will be interesting to see what strategy Sears uses from the cones. (5) TIME TO ROLL & (3) THINKING OUT LOUD could actually be the ones to be in here. One should wind up second over.

Race 7

(1) DROP RED was certainly facing equal if not tougher foes at Pocono. Sears in the bike only adds to the lure. (6) IAM BONASERA went down the road in his last try at this level. (2) BIG BAM RAY is always closing for a big piece; Tetrick drives. (8) FORECLOSURE N is getting closer; post hurts.

Race 8

(4) GRAMS LEGACY was clearly short while facing a sharp Blatantly Good last week. I’ll give this underachiever the slight nod. (8) BONDY N drops way down. I’d be surprised if he didn’t bring a good effort. (5) HICKORY HORACE is another getting some class relief.

Race 9

(2) SOUTHWESTERN DREAM displayed some signs of life last week and finally gets in at the NW $6,500 level. I would expect him to be rolling on the engine. (1) WINDFALL BLUE CHIP gets a positive driver change. (7) ELECTROFIRE is another one who drops down. This guy could get overlooked in the wagering. (4) INTHEBLINKOFANEYE tries slightly tougher for new connections.

Race 10

(5) HYPNOTIC BLUE CHIP was a multiple-move winner in this class last week. Not expecting a regression with Tetrick joining the team. (2) OSCAR OSCAR continues to be one of the sharpest horses in training. (1) DREAMLANDS ART is certainly capable with a smooth trip.

Race 11

(7) STORMIN RUSTLER picked up a nice confidence building score last week and can strong two together. (5) DA VISION OF ART also comes off a win; using. (3) MYRAS HIHO has speed and adds Sears, too.

Race 12

(4) DROP THE BALL is the best mare in this series. (1) NEW ALBUM & (1A) KRISPY APPLE form a tough entry that should complete a short exacta.

Race 13

(1) REMISSIONOFSINS gets some post relief and can best this poor bunch. (10) BEST LIFE is in fine form right now. (4) TOPGUN RAIDER picks up Pierce.
