Race 1

(3) WESTERN VINTAGE certainly looked the part of a good colt in his debut; staying here. (2) SWEET ROCK stayed on nicely after getting passed by the top choice last week. (1) BEAT THE DRUM scored at first asking, but this spot seems tougher.

Race 2

(3) IN THE CLEAR flashed good speed at both ends of his career debut mile. This group looks easier than that one. (2) ROCK N ROLL LEGACY was flat after showing early speed in his debut. As with all 2-year-olds, this gelding is eligible to improve. (4) DRAGON WINGS raced evenly after a show start; adds Tetrick.

Race 3

(6) SIR MICHIGAN Z TAM looked much the best on paper last week and burned money when he broke. This field is clearly more talented, but I’ll take the better price this week and give him another shot. (4) SHARK TREASURE was a good second last time and continues to improve with Lasix. (5) TALKING BLUES exits stakes action versus better.

Race 4

(5) BOLT OF THUNDER just missed in a fast mile to start her career. I’ll stick with the horse that should be controlling the action. (3) ROCKINGCAM PARK finished with nice strides to score at first asking; using. (2) THIS CHICK ROCKS is an interesting import from Illinois for Alagna. (1) I NEED HOTSTUFF lured Tetrick off an Alagna horse; interesting.

Race 5

(2) LAWGIVER HANOVER returns to the Meadowlands in a good spot and has Tetrick in the bike this time around. (3) MIGHTY YOUNG JOE always seems to bring a strong effort at this level. (7) RELENTLESS DREAMER will be along late for a nice piece. (5) SIR MELOS Z TAM would be no shock.

Race 6

(3) WARRAWEE NEEDY might very well be the fastest older pacer in the sport for a mile. It seems his connections have changed tactics to calm him down and it finally paid off last time. The larger track at the Meadowlands should be perfect for him. (6) HESTON BLUE CHIP gave notice last week that he is starting to come around. (4) A ROCKNROLL DANCE blew out a nice qualifying mile at Hoosier and gets an interesting driver switch on Saturday. (1A) FOILED AGAIN is a great horse in a very tough spot.

Race 7

(7) VERSADO got class relief in his last two in Pennsylvania and took care of business. Now he is back at the Meadowlands in what looks like a spot he can handle. (4) HOLDINGALLTHECARDS has come to life at Yonkers and could be ready to step up against this group. (3) PANESTHETIC made a huge move to be second last time. I respect him from the improved post.

Race 8

(3) BETTORS EDGE is one of those honest horses that sneak up on the field and scores at a price when no one is expecting it. This guy rarely throws in a bad race and certainly won’t be hurt by Tetrick in the bike. (4) BOLT THE DUER equaled his lifetime mark last week in the Ben Franklin. Quite simply, there is no better horse out of a pocket than this guy; respect. (6) PET ROCK has raced well every start and is hard to toss. (8) SWEET LOU basically took last week off. Post nine will be tough to overcome, but I expect a good showing.

Race 9

(1) ALL SPEED HANOVER didn’t enjoy his trip up to Canada. He returns to the Meadowlands at a winning level. (3) WHIRL MONROE seems to have found the easiest spot he has seen in a while. (6) BOLERO ANDREW is so sharp right now. (4) MAJOR BELLE hails from the Surick barn and is capable of stepping up at any time.

Race 10

(9) ODDS ON EQUULEUS was simply not right up in Canada. He trained back well in the 1:51 range last Saturday and I simply have a feeling we are about to see a big mile. The price will be right. (4) SUNSHINE BEACH is a serious horse with ability. The addition of driver George Brennan is interesting. (7) ROCKIN AMADEUS WAS ONLY SIXTH IN THE Hempt, but that field was much tougher than this one. Expect speed and a good showing. (5) RESISTANCE FUTILE moves up on this track. Let’s see if he can get to the next level. (6) LONEWOLF CURRIER fell flat against the division’s elite but seems to have talent.

Race 11

(7) IDEAL HELEN was super in her first pari-mutuel trip and looks like a standout in this field. (3) BOXED CHOCOLATES comes off a good try versus a solid winner. (1) MY LADY DAY flashed good early speed last time and now has the rail to work with.

Race 12

(1) SOUTHWIND TERROR comes off a big mile and should be 3-5 or lower in this spot. (2) ROCKAHOLIC finds a field lacking early speed and should be in striking position behind the top choice. (4) PADRE MANUEL seems to be rounding into form; exotics player.

Race 13

(5) ESPIRIT DE KAYJAY A looks like the clear one to beat, though hardly a lock. (8) AVENUE HANOVER didn’t show much in his first start since November with trainer Mark Silva in the bike. Now he drops to the basement condition and adds Callahan. (2) ELUSIVE REWARD should stay close and get a piece. (6) CC RACY is capable at this level with a trip.
