Meadowlands: Saturday 6/8 Analysis

Race 1 - $20,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool

Race 3 - $30,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Race 7 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

MEET STATS: 45 - 132 / $213.30     BEST BETS: 6 - 10 / $19.20

Best Bet: WORD POWER (2nd)

Spot Play: URGENT HANOVER (8th)

Race 1

(3) GRATIAS DEO doesn’t look very good on paper, but those last two races were against far superior foes. (5) COOL LIKE FIRE is his own worst enemy. If he paces the entire mile, watch out! (7) SHADY CITY went a tough trip last time at Monticello just a few days ago. His prior at Tioga was a decent effort.

Race 2

(5) WORD POWER should dominate with ease. (1) ROCKS N BONDS drops right back in the box after the scratched-sick line. He should complete a very short exacta. (3) ALWAYS THERE only faces one tough foe this week instead of a bunch.

Race 3

(7) ESPIRIT DE KAYJAY A wasn’t going far from post 10 last week. The seven-hole isn’t much better, but this field is pretty awful. (2) VAVOOMSTER had some bad cover last time and seems to be in an even easier spot. (6) MORALITY wasn’t bad in a $15,000 claimer last time. This spot is likely a bit softer.

Race 4

(2) FREDDY DAY HANOVER took a shot on the engine and simply went too fast. Hopefully he’ll sit chilly in the pocket behind (4) ANDY BARAN and pace by him in the lane. The latter has been a bridesmaid in consecutive starts and looks like a must use player tonight. (7) HEZA TRICK N gets some class relief but even his last win at Freehold did nothing to impress me.

Race 5

(7) ONLY THE LONELY has been in some tougher spots lately and might be able to wake up versus this group. (5) SEEK THE DRAGON finally made it to the races after a pair of scratched-sick lines over the last 45 days. If he improves at all, there will be no catching him. (2) CAUTION SIGNS gets post relief and has some form.

Race 6

(8) RESCUE PLAN drops down into an easy spot and will have no excuses not to fire. (3) UNTOLD LEGEND is another getting class relief. Yonkers shipper looks like a major player. (6) FORENSIC Z TAM races well when he is in cheap. This spot is tougher but not impossible. (4) HACIENDA has form.

Race 7

(7) PENCE HANOVER wired a slightly softer bunch last week and seems sharp enough to do it again. (4) WHIRL MONROE was thrown to the wolves in that 4-year-old Open. This spot is far from easy but should be more to his liking. (9) ABELARD HANOVER is hard to fault on paper.

Race 8

(10) URGENT HANOVER lays over this field on paper. Unless he does something stupid, he should overcome the post with ease. (3) K SLATER gets to drop down the class ladder and figures to be sharper. (4) SHORTSTACKED has been stuck in outside posts at Yonkers.

Race 9

(6) PRESTISSIMO hasn’t shown much since the claim, but this is likely one of the easiest spots he has seen. (3) SIR MELOS Z TAM has a nice late rally and doesn’t exactly face much. (2) KISS MY ART is the big question mark. He could win by five or break; your call.

Race 10

(3) AWESOME ARMBRO N hasn’t exactly received the best trips lately. Gelding could not have handpicked a better spot. (8) JETTIN JUSTIN qualified back pretty well. That win earlier in the year here sticks out in this group. (9) THANKS FOR STOPPIN has speed and Callahan figures to be utilizing it.

Race 11

(2) LUCAN HANOVER is a highly regarded 3-year-old from the Casie Coleman barn who has been up against some talented foes lately. This is the type of group I expect him to dismantle. (4) MINDSET has displayed glimpses of ability but needs to take the next step. (9) LATE NIGHT JOKE stepped up in a big way last time.

Race 12

(8) LONG LIVE ROCK doesn’t belong facing these, but I guess he earned his way in by being bad against better. There are no excuses for him losing this race. (3) BIG RED switches to Callahan in the bike. How many times have we seen him get on a horse for the first time and move them up? (4) BOBJACKS ANGLE A should be coming late and is capable of getting more than just a small piece.

Race 13

(6) FOUR STARZ TWINS finally finds a field where he won’t have to go a 26-second opening quarter to make the top; narrow call. (8) REDNECK OUTLAW closed well in his first start since October. (2) ELUSIVE REWARD should get away close and grab an exotic spot.
