Meadowlands: Saturday 6/23 Analysis

CHAMPIONSHIP MEET STATS: 60 - 156 / $316.60

Best Bet: STORMIN RUSTLER (12th)      Spot Play: LEGAL DREAM (1st)

Race 1

(4) LEGAL DREAM gets some major class relief going from NW3 to NW1. I’ll roll the dice and hope for a wakeup mile. (1) JOE ROCKS has already posted a pair of seconds at this level. (9) EIGHT TEN EOM almost wired the field last week; Tetrick drives. (8) JOLT OF FIRE finished well last time.

Race 2

(6) WINNING MISTER couldn’t be any sharper. This is a prep race and others haven’t raced in a pari-mutuel race in a while. I’ll take the price on this guy. (2) ARCH MADNESS & (3) CHAPTER SEVEN look to be at the head of this division but haven’t raced in some time. Either could win but I’m shying away on top.

Race 3

(6) RELENTLESS DREAMER finished with a solid rally to get the win last week and remains at the same level. (2) TAXED closed from the clouds to finish second behind my top choice; Tony Hall opted off, though. (4) HANG TEN finds a field without much early zip and could get away with cheap fractions.

Race 4

(9) IM A GORDY TOO has a hint of early speed in his arsenal. That trait can really help him in this field and Baggitt Jr is known for an aggressive style. (6) REMISSIONOFSINS perked up a bit last week; ready to show more? (1) HURRIKANE ANTHONY gets a catch-driver this time. (5) TOPGUN RAIDER was my original top pick but I downgraded his chances when I saw the driver change.

Race 5

(5) OSCAR OSCAR keeps rolling along. He is far from a lock but deserves top billing. (4) TOWNSLIGHT HANOVER couldn’t be much sharper. I think he can probably go with these right now. (2) A J CORBELLI can step up with a big mile at any point.

Race 6

(5) INTHEBLINKOFANEYE probably picked up some confidence with the win last week. This field appears to have enough early speed types to set up his late rally. (3) ALL SHUTTLE comes off a big mile. (4) MOST HAPPY KEENE had a tough trip last time. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him score at a price.

Race 7

(3) FREDDY DAY HANOVER always seems to perk up when he drops down. It is worth noting for conspiracy theorists, the way the current condition sheet is written, he can’t take a big drop in class if he doesn’t race well. (5) MYSTIC DESIRE held well despite spending a good deal of time on the rim. (8) GRAMS LEGACY is a tricky horse to read; capable, though.

Race 8

(3) MCGREAT drops down and takes on a dull-looking bunch. (2) DONTTELLPORKIES N finally draws well after back to back 10-holes. (1) ART FOR ARTS SAKE missed three weeks prior to his recent start and took plenty of air that night.

Race 9

(5) T M TOP GUN stays at the same level but was clearly taking on some tougher foes in his recent starts. This looks like the perfect spot for a return to the winner’s circle. (4) SHELLYSBLOCKBUSTER has been a bit of a tease lately. You know he is good enough to win but he can’t get over the top. (7) THAT’S JUSTICE, (8) IN KENNYS HONOR & (9) TRIGGER FINGER are each dropping in class and have some early speed.

Race 10

(8) BLATANTLY GOOD found himself last week. He drifted a bit in the lane but won easily. (6) MOJO TERROR gets class relief but a downgrade in the sulky. (1) SIR ZIGGYS Z TAM held well on the rim last week; drops.

Race 11

(1) MISTER BARNETT N displayed a bit of life last week and clearly doesn’t face any world-beaters tonight. (4) MUST BE THE BUNNY finds an easier spot and should show speed. (9) DUNKIRK BEACH seems sharp enough to win if you can read between the lines of some bad trips.

Race 12

(5) STORMIN RUSTLER should be happy he is in the consolation, because this spot is much easier. I see Allard getting aggressive tonight. (2) ARTIC STRETCH can get away close to the action and get a nice piece. (10) ENRY has dangerous early speed.
