Race 1

(1) LUCAN HANOVER is a 3-year-old with a possible future. I expect him to take charge against this group. (3) LATE NIGHT JOKE romped last time at Philly; using. (5) IMA GIGGITY FOOL already has a pair of seconds in this series.

Race 2

(2) NATHANIEL B put in a good race in his 2013 debut. Any step forward puts him in the winner’s circle. (3) GRATIAS DEO has raced pretty well when he finds these easier spots. (4) ROCK N AHARD PLACE seems to be improving. I wouldn’t be shocked if he got a big piece.

Race 3

(5) ROCKY MOUNTAIN GUY took care of business against a similar field last week and gets another shot at this level. (2) LETS ROCK TOGETHER hasn’t produced results lately, but there is some ability here. (3) STEUBEN PATRIOT has a recent knack for finishing third.

Race 4

(7) BIG ART seems to be trending in the right direction and has early speed. (1) PARADISE STATION put in a good mile upon arrival here and looks like a must use now. (9) AIRBURST HANOVER swept the field like they weren’t moving in his last start. From post nine against slightly better, that will be tough to do.

Race 5

(3) HIGH OCTANE N finds the perfect spot as he drops to the basement C-2 condition this week. I will be very surprised if he doesn’t bring a huge effort to the track. (5) PALMS BEACH is probably a bit sharper than he looks on paper. He had a bit of traffic last week. (9) SIR ZIGGYS Z TAM drops again and could easily show more.

Race 6

(3) BULLET SPEED gets some class relief and Manzi booked off another live-looking horse to drive here. Gelding should wake up tonight. (1) BOLERO ANDREW is another dropping down. Abbatiello should be using this guy’s speed early in the mile. (4) DAMON BLUE CHIP steps up off a nice win.

Race 7

These horses are used to competing for less than half the purse they race for tonight. With that and the number of early speed types signed on in mind, I’m going to try (7) AWESOME ARMBRO N. The 11-year-old Ross Croghan trainee has charged home in each of his last two starts and seems to be getting sharp at the perfect moment. (2A) LONG LIVE ROCK is clearly the horse to beat, but the scratched-sick line and plethora of possible gate leavers has me concerned. (1A) ESPRIT DE KAYJAY A hung a bit last time but still looks like a serious contender. (2) ANDY BARAN was used too hard last time. He can certainly win this final.

Race 8

(3) BOBJACKS ANGLE A is more of a grinder for most of the mile and just could stay close enough in that 1:21 4/5 three quarter clocking last time. This field came up light enough that he should be in striking position. (9) FREDDY DAY HANOVER is capable of wiring this field but I wouldn’t take a short price. (1) ELUSIVE REWARD can step up from time to time.

Race 9

(3) THANKS FOR STOPPIN is far from a great horse, but at least he is a legitimate Meadowlands horse who can win here. He has 3 wins here since 2011. The rest of the field combined is 1-for-87 in East Rutherford. (1A) KAUFMAN HANOVER stands at 0-for-21 here the last few years, but the competition is easy tonight. (9) BIG PUFF DADDY gets a mention on feel more than anything. Something tells me he might show some speed this week.

Race 10

(2) JETTIN JUSTIN comes into this race with some hard to like past performance lines. He has been sick a number of times and also pulled up one week. But when you scan the rest of the field and realize that Justin will offer some value, it makes the risk more palatable. (5) WHITTAKER finished with a strong final quarter last time and might be finding some form. (10) PRESTISSIMO has speed and will be using it.

Race 11

(1) BREAKIN THE LAW finds a good spot this week and should be sent down the road. (3) MAJOR BELLE returns to the Meadowlands at a lower level; more tonight? (5) LETTHEROCKBEGIN is not going to win but could spice up the trifecta.

Race 12

(1) LEMON DROP HALL should win for fun. (2) AREZZO HANOVER comes with plenty of risk, but looks like the only one capable of beating the top one. (6) LORD OF THE BLING raced well two starts back.
