Best Bet: TWIN B TUFFENUFF (1st) Spot Play: SAMS TRIPLE CROWN (10th) Race 2 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool Race 7 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool CHAMPIONSHIP MEET STATS: 13 - 39 / $71.40 (-$6.60) BEST BETS: 4 - 4 / $12.20 (+$4.20) Race 1 (3) TWIN B TUFFENUFF wasn’t bad last week as many will paint it. He just got caught in a faster mile. This field came up very light and the son of Rock N Roll Heaven should have his way. (2) MAJOR SUGAR RUSH flashed speed last time and that ability alone should make him a factor. (5) ROCK LIGHTS comes in from Pocono where he raced just evenly in the Weiss series. I’m not sure whether he is fast enough to win this race. Race 2 (1) KJ’S JUSTINE used a perfect trip to win the opening round of this series. While I wasn’t overly impressed, some improvement seems likely and another good trip should be in the offing from the cones. (5) KIMBERLEE comes in from Pocono off a Weiss series sweep and is perfect in five starts this year; clear threat. (6) ODDS ON ASHLEY came up a bit flat in her first career start; more now? Race 3 (4) IYQ YQR had his work cut out for him from post 9 last time and his prior starts at Pocono were against tougher. He’s won here in the past and these connections are very capable of pulling off an upset. (2) MAJOR WAR hasn’t been overly sharp of late but sometimes the switch to the big track can perk a horse up. (3) ALLBLACK STRIDE N drops down and is more than capable of winning, but he tends to disappoint quite often lately. (1) VICTORYDAZE WILWIN has been racing well of late. Race 4 (6) COME GET THE CASH came first-over and was much the best despite the narrow margin of victory last time. (1) PAINTED LADY gets a better post and shouldn’t have to work too hard to get a good trip. (2) SAND ARTIST made two moves and held her own last out; player. Race 5 (2) BILL’S MAN put in a good steady effort in his first try of the year. He doesn’t have quick acceleration but can grind or stride along on the engine. I’m hoping he can leave and sit no worse than the pocket or work out a second-over trip. (5) ARIANA G is clearly the horse to beat in her 2018 debut. If Gingras decides to place her on the engine in the opening half and she isn’t taxed too hard, the race is over. (4) YES MICKEY should be leaving fast and has proven capable of going a big mile. (1) NEW JERSEY VIKING gets a new driver tonight and could provide some value. Race 6 I’m going to take a shot here with (5) WAIKIKI BEACH A off a solid win last week. He was highly regarded coming from Down Under and perhaps he is finally ready to live up to the hype. (1) AMERICAN HISTORY is loaded with talent but still seems to be a bit green. With the possibility of a very short price and the likelihood of a sloppy track, I’m inclined to watch a race from him. (6) SWEET ROCK hung last time when he looked like a sure winner. He certainly fits with this company. Race 7 (7) BARN BELLA had absolutely no shot in the Miami Valley Distaff from post 9. The outside draw tonight does her no favors, but she is fast enough to make the top off the gate and could upset. (1) MOONSHINER HANOVER has picked up some confidence beating lesser at Philly. Is he this good? (5) INTERNATIONAL MONI is certainly a talented horse but not one I’m interested in tonight unless the price drifts over the 3-1 mark. Race 8 (7) THINKBIG DREAMBIG raced well finishing second to a top 3-year-old in Nutcracker Sweet in his last qualifier. Last year notice he beat likely series favorite Babes Dig Me in a qualifier. There seems to be some talent here and I’m not loving any of the other options. (3) LIFE HAPPENED has only missed the board once this year and picked up a win in round one of this series. (1) BETTOR WATCH OUT comes off a decent mile for a barn that wins at a high rate. (6) THOR DE VIE just missed behind Life Happened last time. Race 9 (4) BALLERAT BOOMERANG was the victim of a last than perfect drive last time and still held rather well. I expect we’ll see this guy on the engine this time around. (1) IWILLMAKEUSAYWOW didn’t have his same late life last Saturday. I’m willing to forgive that one poor showing. (10) SANTIAGO STYLE has a powerful late kick if he can stay close to the action from the outside post. (3) AVATARTIST saved ground and rallied nicely a week ago; trip threat. Race 10 (2) SAMS TRIPLE CROWN is down in class and tends to wake up with a big effort at this level. (5) GRIFFON HANOVER is another dropping a bit and I’d be surprised if he wasn’t handled aggressively. (4) SOUTHERN PURSUIT N blasted down the road versus cheaper last time; using underneath only. (6) ROLL WITH HOWIE also beat lesser foes a week ago. If they mix it up on the engine or the track is playing to closers, he is a win option.  [DRF HARNESS NEWSLETTER: Sign Up for the FREE DRF Harness Newsletter.
