Best Bet: CALIFORNIA CRUISIN (5th) Spot Play: WINDSONG LEO (1st) Race 2 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool Race 7 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool MEET STATS: 148 - 539 / $947.90 (-$130.10) BEST BETS: 16 - 44 / $53.30 (-$34.70) Race 1 (2) WINDSONG LEO had to chase last week and that cost him the opportunity to beat a game (5) BARIMAH A. I think we’ll see Leo be very aggressive this time and get the jump on his main rival. The latter is in career form and will not go down without a fight. (4) PHOENIX WARRIOR N lost to the top two when racing in the first leg of this series. He’s probably racing for third but seems capable of getting a bit more with the right trip. Race 2 (3) SLIPIN SKIP was spectacular last week upon arrival from the Delaware circuit. Driver Corey Callahan chose him over another sharp foe in #8 and I can’t play against. (6) ODDS ON DELRAY has the talent if ready off the bench. Do we see early speed or will McCarthy take it easy for this guy’s first start back. (8) ROCK ON LINE was a solid second last week and should be heard from again. (4) YO APOLLO CREED seems to be moving in the right direction but may need a softer spot to win. Race 3 (7) LUCKY LEONARD faced a bit of traffic last week in his first start of the year. There is a bit of ability in this 3-year-old and he is certainly quick off the gate. I’m going to roll the dice with him against a questionable field. (1) AMERICAN VISION qualified OK but did drift out in the stretch. Let’s look for some equipment changes before wagering. (4) TRUE CUT has been chasing well of late. He could be on the lead here. Race 4 While we only get six horses, this is a pretty good group. I’ll try (4) ROCKEYED OPTIMIST, who has been very sharp in the morning while preparing for his first start of the year. Three qualifiers should be enough of a foundation. (6) WESTERN JOE is back at The Meadowlands where he has done very well. Can he get away soft here? (5) AWESOMENESS has been racing very well out of town and is impossible to leave off your pick five ticket. Race 5 (2) CALIFORNIA CRUISIN raced well in his first start since November and catches a soft group. He should take care of business. (1) MAJOR SUGAR RUSH qualified back well behind good competition. We may just see some early speed out of this gelding. (3) GO WEST GO FAST kept up nicely in his qualifier and shows stakes lines as a 2-year-old. Race 6 (2) APPLE BOTTOM JEANS has crushed her foes impressively in both starts here and would have to take a step back to lose this week. (5) BETTORHAVEANOTHER was no match for the top choice last Saturday. She should be on the move early and sitting in a good spot. (1) STORMTRACKER ran her career on-the-board run to 13 for 13 last week; using her underneath. Race 7 (1) SANTIAGO STYLE gets to drop in class courtesy of the Also Eligible condition and deserves top billing, but I don’t feel overly confident. (8) JK PARLAY came back from vacation with a sharp win. This is a more difficult spot, but he is definitely fast enough to best this group. (6) QUALITY BUD is feeling good right now and should be closing for a piece. (2) JOJO JOVE has the early speed to make some noise and enough form to get the job done with the right trip. Race 8 (2) THAT’S MY OPINION seems to like this track and closed pretty well last time. I’m going to take a shot with him in a race without a clear standout. (5) JUSTIFIED raced evenly at Yonkers on Tuesday and seems to be in a spot where Abbatiello might attempt to gun off the gate. (3) ART HISTORY has the natural speed to win but hasn’t been on his game. Race 9 (1) ALOTBETTOR N finally got a good post to work with and won for fun last time at Yonkers. This is a tougher spot, but he sizes up well versus this field. (6) EMERITUS MAXIMUS lured Callahan off a winner from last week and like some others is clearly facing lesser competition this week. (2) SOHO WALLSTREET A finished well last time and figures to be overbet some off that mile. (3) CALVIN B finally found some stretch guts last time and might be ready to climb the ladder. Race 10 (2) BRIGADIERBRONSKI A made some money Down Under, so there is some talent here. He left a bit in his qualifier before backing off and pacing evenly. I’ll roll the dice here. (9) BRUCE’S MAGIC is way down in class and more than capable of taking this field down the road. (6) DANISHDUJOUR has been racing well at this level. (7) PANSFORMATIVE couldn’t keep up in his qualifier but was tackling much better. He may be worth a look in the post parade. [DRF HARNESS NEWSLETTER: Sign Up for the FREE DRF Harness Newsletter.
