MEET STATS: 27 - 116 / $128.60       BEST BETS: 3 - 9 / $13.80

Race 1

(7) DON’T YA KNOW showed high speed early in his two-year-old season. Well-bred colt returns off a solid qualifier and should be ready. (1) ARD DE TRIUMPH got his act together after some difficult trips in last and most definitely is the one to fear. (5) I DO HANOVER takes a significant drop this week and must be respected.

Race 2

(4) WARRAWEE NEEDY was in a word, breathtaking last week. Four-year-old is not likely to have to sweat it this week. (3) ESCAPE THE NEWS will try to establish himself early. (5) BAKIN ON THE BEACH showed life at both ends last week but faces an uphill battle from the outside.

Race 3

(4) VERSADO has controlling speed in this short field. (2) RIVER SHARK has done some of his best racing at the Meadowlands this year and remains a stout closing threat should there be any speed duel. (5)ROCKIN THE HOUSE has sharpened once again for the Burke stable and is in top hands.

Race 4

(10) OLD TIME HOCKEY qualified sharply for his first pari-mutuel start. Art Major-sired colt doesn’t face a strong group and may be able to overcome the difficult draw. (6) DHARMA INITIATIVE put in his first solid effort upon dropping to this level. (3) ROCK ICON hasn’t had much luck with poor draws. Lightly-raced colt returns to Gingras and lands inside.

Race 5

(3) MONTREAL PHIL has the one quality you have to respect in a horse, the ability to win a close photo. Veteran ships to the Meadowlands with two wins by a nose in his last three starts. (8) D GS WOODSTOCK has explosive early foot, but may meet some resistance early this week. (1) MORGAN SHARK has captured both starts since adding Lasix but faces a significantly tougher group this time.

Race 6

(4) RECENT NEWS held his ground fairly well after setting the pace last time. Five-year-old prefers the closing style and should have his way here with no clear dominant speed. (1) SCOTTY MACH N has come to hand for Maxwell and remains a threat. (6) ASTOR steps up after a solid win.

Race 7

(7) OUTRAGEOUS ART shows no signs of slowing down for Burke. Six-year-old is perfect in 2013 and shouldn’t face much hardship looking to the front this time around. (6) MUSSELSFRMBRUSSELS was obviously not right in his last start. Ontario-bred drops a notch after a week on the sidelines and can bounce back. (2) LIVE ON could be in for a big year following a solid victory.

Race 8

(8) HURRIKANE JON PAUL has a solid foundation of qualifiers and races following a one-year absence from the racing scene. Veteran has some back class and may be more than meets the eye. (1) AREZZO HANOVER managed to get through a mile without breaking but seems a risky proposition as an underlay from this spot. (4) PICTURE ME is another money burner that may just need a trip to secure a victory.

Race 9

(2) TERROR HIGH blasted home with solid pace in the Junior Trendsetter final in another solid effort. Sophomore is gaining confidence and seems set to tackle this level. (9) ERES TU made a solid debut on a difficult racing surface for Toscano. American Ideal-sired gelding remains the one to beat. (3) ALWAYS THERE showed some speed from the outside in last and may be better situated from this spot.

Race 10

(2) TUG RIVER CLAUDE takes a significant drop in class upon arriving from Yonkers and finds a good spot to surprise. (1) ANDY BARAN has been racing well all season long without benefit of a victory. Jeff Dauplaise-trained gelding should be in the hunt. (4) PRINCE SHARKA was a little disappointing in perhaps a tougher division of this class last week. Four-year-old may prefer a one-run style.

Race 11

(7) POWER OF A MOMENT took a tour of the racetrack in his debut and finished off well despite having little chance. Six-year-old may get a bit more motivated early this week. (3) TOUCH AND GO also suffered from a lack of flow in his mile last week. (5) GAELIC THUNDER missed a week due to sickness but has been solid in most of his miles this year for trainer John McDermott.

Race 12

(9) VEAL MARSALA has a long history of success at this track. Old-timer lands outside but can get into the flow without much difficulty. (1) SCOTTIE C arrives in stellar form after stints at Yonkers and Monticello. (5) WALL E hails from a very solid barn.

Race 13

(6) MR COOLIE has a reasonable amount of class and known ability on the big track. Seven-year-old gets a favorable “re-classification” to the basement. (8) SIR MELOS Z TAM has been slow to get started this season after winning seven times as a three-year-old but may appreciate the double-drop. (5) DANAS SHARP SMART will try the big track again.
