Meadowlands: Saturday 3/3 Analysis

MEET STATS: 81 - 261 / $620.80

Best Bet:  I WANNA GO FAST (10th)   Spot Play: BETTORIFFIC (1st)

Race 1

(9) BETTORIFFIC remains at the NW 2 level but seems to have caught a weaker group. Let’s look for more from him tonight. (7) YO CHEYENNE ROCKY put in a decent debut mile. It would not be a stretch for him to improve with the start under his belt. (3) BULLET BOB & (4) SHARKTEEN both get post relief. (6) WAYWATCHER makes his 2012 debut with a new pilot at the helm.

Race 2

(3) BREAKIN THE LAW is clearly on a roll right now and the switch to the Burke barn certainly didn’t hurt. (2) RELENTLESS G finished fast last week against the talented Gram’s Legacy. (6) IDEAL CHAMP was in some nice stakes races last year and his qualifiers were okay; maybe.

Race 3

(3) ROCK THREE TIMES found the Junior Trendsetter series a bit too tough but kept up well in two of the three legs. This is an easier spot. (7) DUNGEON DRAGON finished up better with Lasix added; perhaps it helped. He has some early zip and that is a big advantage. (6) KINGS LEGEND comes off two awesome qualifiers on paper. I can see him taking way too much money, though. If the price is right, I’d be on board.

Race 4

(6) WILDRIDGE SAM returned from a vacation and raced okay considering the first-over journey. This guy loves to win and should be ready for more now. (4) MARKET FORCE went a brutal half last week in the Rags To Riches and understandably tired. Don’t give up on him too quickly. (5) GUNMANS BANDIT was better last time and drops tonight. (2) ULTIMATE DESIRE & (3) MEGA HALL are clearly exotic players.

Race 5

You can’t be much sharper than (1) SPECIAL T ROCKS. The 4yo gelding doesn’t face an easy bunch but deserves the call on guts alone. (2) GREAT VINTAGE won at this level last week and might just be in line for some cover from the top choice. (6) WESTERN SHORE could surprise on the engine. He should have more confidence after some good races at Yonkers. (5) DROP RED is a horse that I like, but I think I’ll watch one more start.

Race 6

(7) NOBLE FALCON has some legitimate excuses lately (post 10, unc trip, up in class); narrow call. (5) STRANGE HANOVER beat a similar field last week. (1) HICKORY HORACE arrives from Yonkers at a reduced level; big threat. (2) GIDDY UP DELIGHT won for this condition two starts back.

Race 7

(7) J J GLADIATOR gets another class drop tonight for a barn that can wake them up in a hurry. Driver should help the price. (6) LETTHEROCKBEGIN gets some needed class relief. (8) STONEBRIDGE WISH is another dropper in a field full of them; use. (3) VOICE OF TRUTH is back at the Meadowlands at a reduced level.

Race 8

(5) CAMBASSADOR raced well in defeat last time; good form. (4) COBALT MAN changes barns off a win. Looks like a good claim and the fact that he bumps up in class is a plus. (8) WESTERN TRADEMARK broke and still won at this level in his most recent.

Race 9

(2) BET ON ROULETTE reunites with Sears; combo won the last time they hooked up at this level. (5) VILLAGE BEAT dropped to this level last week and was used hard leaving as the two horses to his inside left hard as well. Getting the top should be easier tonight; must use. (10) REAL FLIGHT drops out of series action.

Race 10

(4) I WANNA GO FAST has been in very tough lately. I know he has been a bit flat, but that happens against really sharp horses. This spot should suit him nicely. (1A) RISK MANAGEMENT has some early zip in the tank and seems likely to break that out in this spot. Don’t be too quick to toss him after having no chance in the Exit 16W final. (3) FOOLS GOLD is one that trainer/driver Daryl Bier was talking up a few weeks ago. Notice that 1:48 4/5 mile last year!

Race 11

(8) STONEBRIDGE MASTER had some sneaky pace last week, his first start in 16 months. I can certainly see him stepping up now. (7) MCSOCKS gets away from sharp claimers; easier spot. (5) ALL SUMMER LONG returns for a hot barn; maybe. (6) ON THE RADAR raced better on the drop down.

Race 12

(6) BESTNOTLIE HANOVER showed some life last week. Is that a sign of things to come? (3) DRAGON AHS went too fast last week; drops a notch. (9) ALEXPANDERTHEGREAT should be closing for a share.

Race 13

(2) FINANCE THE MASTER is one I’ve been following. He moves down in class tonight, so I have to stay with him. (4) TARVER HANOVER takes an even bigger step down the class ladder; must consider. (6) ART AT HEART is not what he used to be but did lure David Miller off my top choice.
