Race 3 - $30,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Race 7 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

MEET STATS: 89 - 331 / $534.60   BEST BETS: 13 - 27 / $40.90

Best Bet: SENTOSA ISLAND (1st)

Spot Play: ALSACE HANOVER (10th)

Race 1

(5) SENTOSA ISLAND raced well in his career debut but should be aided by the presence of the more accomplished Callahan in the bike this week. (3) MR BIG LOAD seems to be on the right track after his recent Pocono effort. (4) ONE BAD NIGHT is hard to play on top with only 1 win from 24 starts, but is a must in the exotics.

Race 2

(5) DOVUTO HANOVER was a game second last time and looking at the field this week, I see a bit more action developing on the front. He might be first-over on Saturday, but he can overcome. (6) GOLDEN RECEIVER is clearly the one to beat. That said, having the speedy (1) PANESTHETIC and (4) ALLSTAR LEGEND (off a solid score) to his inside creates problems.

Race 3

(4) RELENTLESS DREAMER doesn’t exactly tackle the toughest group and reunites with Campbell this week. If he can stay in striking position, watch out. (6) AINT NO MO showed a nice move last week before tiring. I’m thinking he can compete at a price. (9) VOICE OF TRUTH is clearly capable of winning despite the tough post assignment.

Race 4

(4) I’M BANSKY drops out of the Clyde Hirt series where he was simply over his head. I’m expecting a huge effort on Saturday. (5) HIGH OCTANE N ships in with form on his side. Connections aren’t sending him here to check out the new grandstand. (7) THE PAN POOBAH makes his second start off the bench for Ron Burke.

Race 5

(6) ST LADS HE MAN wasn’t quite as good as I expected last week and probably should have finished closer to the leader. Perhaps new driver Scott Zeron can move him up a notch. (7) PASSIONATE TERROR is another getting a driver change to a top pilot. (4) YACHT KING is too sharp to ignore.

Race 6

(7) VALENTINO had equipment trouble on Wednesday and never got a chance to race. Classy 7-year-old has early speed and should be using it in a big way. (2) HIGHLAND BOREAS exits the Winter Survivor series for this mini C-Notes series. This seems like a lateral move and he should be competitive. (6) SOMEPLACE SPECIAL makes his debut as a 4-year-old and is one to fear if ready. (9) QUIK MAGIC drops down and gets a positive driver change; don’t ignore.

Race 7

Looking at this field and I see nothing but contenders. There is no way to justify selecting anything but a longshot. With that in mind, (5) SUMMER SMACKDOWN has been dropping time each week and you know Burke is going to send him out sharp on Saturday; driver change to Callahan. (10) WAKE UP PETER apparently threw a shoe last week which resulted in the break. He is probably the most talented horse in the field, but post 10 and his sometimes lackadaisical nature on the track leave mixed feelings when wagering. (2) AVATARTIST looks for the series sweep and is a must on every ticket. (4) CC HEET SEEKER has proven his worth over his last two starts and the price should be tempting. (6) ALEXAS JACKPOT could benefit from an expected hot pace. There are lots of early speed types signed on.

Race 8

(3) LITTLE GOLD RING could be considered a reach by some. While he is making his first start since November, I like the fact that he showed improvement (time-wise) in his qualifiers and paced home in 26 4/5 against some tough foes. (1) HRUBYS N LUCK is a clear player on form. (5) BETTOR B scored as one of my picks last week, but I’m beginning to think he is a one-trick, off-the-pace type. Until I see a new dimension, I can’t back him while up in class. (9) MIGHTY YOUNG JOE has an opportunity to blast off the gate and take charge in a field that appears to lack early zip.

Race 9

(3) BLATANTLY BEST shipped in and raced very well. This is not an easy spot, but I give him the slight edge. (8) OLDE TIME HOCKEY has high speed and could be tough if left alone on the engine for too long. (2) SEE AND SKI comes with question marks but obviously has the talent to take charge. (4) IMA GIGGITY FOOL looks good if you can get past the break last time.

Race 10

(1) ALSACE HANOVER was used up in a very fast opening half last time. Millionaire drops in class tonight and should have enough tricks up his sleeve to get the job done. (9) UP UP AND OUT never got involved when dropped to this level last time. But when looking at this field as a whole, you can’t help but think that driver Andy Miller will be gunning him off the gate (see 3/1/14) and give him a shot. (6) ANDREW LUCK & (4) BOLERO ANDREW are both returning to the level of their last win.

Race 11

(6) BAMBINO GLIDE is my top pick and will be the heavy favorite, but I have to admit to having doubts. While the gelding has looked awesome, he is sure to face plenty of company if he leaves away from the gate. (9) BANKER VOLO looks like the one to key in on if you want a fair price. Five-year-old tends to hang a bit in the stretch, but he has ability. (1A) TIME TO QUIT & (1) AMIGO RANGER form a Burke-trained combination that should make its presence felt.

 Race 12

(1) LIGHTNING RAIDER N ships in from Yonkers, adds Miller and finds a good spot. (3) COLOSSAL has been involved nearly every week. (8) MONTANA PABLO A has competed against my top pick at Yonkers with success; using.

Race 13

(1) ATLAS ALLIANCE N needs an inside post to do damage here and gets one tonight. (6) THAT’S JUSTICE is right there each week. (8) E STREET PLAN has speed and is sure to be involved. (3) HIGHLAND BOGART drops out of series action.
