Meadowlands: Saturday 3/24 Analysis

MEET STATS: 102 - 352 / $752.40

Best Bet: DID IT AGAIN (12th)     Spot Play: ASTOR (3rd)

Race 1

(1) JIM DANDY has been racing pretty well and now picks up a catch-driver to get that little bit more out of him. (2) COWBOY MAX was very green in his pari-mutuel debut. Let’s look for equipment changes. (4) ATTACK MODES BILLY raced okay in his first start of the year; more now?

Race 2

(1) BEAUTY AND A BEAST has been drawing outside lately. Tonight he moves to the rail and faces a dull group. (8) KISS MY CAM drops down and has speed. The ship up from Pompano is the only concern. (5) IRON BYRON found himself in a bad spot last week. He won’t find an easier spot here.

Race 3

(1) ASTOR qualified back sharply for the Toscano barn. Colt seems to have some ability and outdraws his rivals by a long margin. (10) KINGS LEGEND went to Chester and showed his talent. Post 10 could be a problem, but he is a clear player. (9) ROCKNDREAM posted a good 2012 debut mile.

Race 4

(1) TROPHY HUNTER put in a good effort on the engine but went a bit too fast last week. Let’s give him another shot. (2) LEAVE IT TO SAM was okay last time despite missing more than a month of action. Notice that he won three of his four starts last year. (8) TOUCH OF STEEL makes his second start since coming north from Florida. Sometimes it takes a start for horses to acclimate.

Race 5

(8) A J CORBELLI was much better last time and actually may have done better if he wasn’t blocked in the stretch. This field came up tough, so we should get a nice price. (1) GRAMS LEGACY is coming into his own. He did take a bad step or two last time, though. (2) HES GORGEOUS raced evenly in his Miller barn debut; more now?

Race 6

This was completely unintentional, but (1) GAELIC THUNDER is the fifth #1 horse I have picked so far. He climbs the class ladder once again and has shown no signs of slowing down. (5) HEART OF ROCKNROLL took slightly easier foes down the road last time. (4) ARTISTS VIEW won with Miller three-back and he chose here over #3. (8) MICKEY HANOVER returns to the Meadowlands against easier.

Race 7

(8) BREAKIN THE LAW was a good second in a big mile last time. (3) BETTORS GLASS never got involved in his most recent outing. He moves inside now and figures to be closer to the action. (9) E STREET PLAN won from post 10 in his 2012 debut. (2) ALEX BULLVILLE has been facing tougher conditioned foes.

Race 8

(3) CAMBASSADOR chased home Oscar Oscar willingly last week. He should be sitting close to the action again and can get past late. (8) ROCKIN GLASS was super in the Rags to Riches. This spot is probably easier. (5) MASTER STROKE could show up on any given week.

Race 9

(4) NOBLE FALCON is a classy veteran dropping down the class ladder. (1) BLUE CLAW gets class and post relief; speed tonight? (8) MCCEDES had a tough trip last time. Millionaire is another dropper.

Race 10

(1) BIG BAM RAY has found his form of late. This guy has the backclass to bump up one more time. (6) FRED AND GINGER posted the second fastest qualifying time in history last week. If he does that tonight, he wins. (2) SOUTHERN SPORT, (5) RESCUE PLAN & (9) DROP RED are all capable with the right setup.

Race 11

(6) COLONEL MOFFITT raced very well in the Rags to Riches and is clearly in an easier spot now. (2) ELUSIVE REWARD showed more improvement last week. Another step forward could put him in the photo. (8) MOST HAPPY KEENE & (7) LEGACY N DIAMONDS both raced well from too far back last out.

Race 12

(1) DID IT AGAIN should protect the rail and get a big piece against this bunch. (7) LAGUNA BEACH is clearly the one to beat. (2) ALLAMERICAN MAJOR seems unlikely to win but should get a piece of the exotics.

Race 13

(4) TRIPLE MAJOR has been facing some stronger and sharper foes lately. This is the type of spot where he is supposed to awaken. (5) BLUE BOY may have needed the start after shipping north. (9) TAKEMEWITHYOU was not as good as his recent second place finish looks.
