MEET STATS: 82 - 309 / $465.50  BEST BETS: 13 - 25 / $40.90

Best Bet: SENTOSA ISLAND (1st)

Spot Play: BETTOR B (3rd)

Race 1

(6) SENTOSA ISLAND caught my eye in both qualifying efforts and finds a pretty soft spot for his debut. Other than the Croghan barn sitting at just 1-for-24 this meet, everything looks positive on this Lis Mara first time starter. (5) WEST MATTERS & (4) NITRO SEELSTER finished third and fourth against two superior foes last time. Either of these geldings could step up. (1) ONE BAD NIGHT has yet to mss the board this year.

Race 2

(4) THESEYESRCRYING wasn’t going very far from post eight at Yonkers last time. Two starts back he was very competitive here at this level. (6) HRUBYS N LUCK was roughed up a bit on the rim after graduating to this condition last week; another shot. (9) BOBJACKS ANGLE A is a consistent sort who figures to be closing late for a nice spot in the exotics.

Race 3

(5) BETTOR B has yet to get involved in two starts this year, but I’ve seen enough to think he has more to give in the near future. (6) FREDDY DAY HANOVER really had no shot last week of closing into some strong headwinds after chasing a slow 56 2/5 half last week. (2) WILLY MUCHA could flash speed from the inside.

Race 4

(5) SEEK THE DRAGON returns to the Meadowlands after consecutive no-chance efforts at Yonkers from outside posts. His prior starts here were decent performances at a higher level. (4) MEGA LIGHTNING seems to be in form now and is worth considering. (2) BIG ART comes off a nice win and was Zeron’s choice.

Race 5

(3) JEPSON HANOVER has been facing some hard-knocking claimers at Yonkers recently. The B-2 condition should be a nice fit for him. (9) OLDE TIME HOCKEY scored impressively last week and should handle the class rise without an issue. (2) IM A GIGGITY FOOL continues to race well each week.

Race 6

(8) AVATARTIST blasted to the front and just kept finding more for trainer O’Sullivan. I see no reason not to ride the wave with this 4-year-old. (1) ALEXAS JACKPOT raced well despite being on the rim last time. With any decent trip, he could score. (2) ANDREW LUCK is far from one of my favorite horses, but in this spot he looks good for the exotics.

Race 7

(4) SEE AND SKI didn’t seem happy to sit the pocket and showed his aversion by making a break in round one action. He’ll need to finish first or second to guarantee a spot in next week’s final and he certainly has the talent to accomplish that feat. (1) WAKE UP PETER has yet to lose this year and is clearly the one to beat. That said, he didn’t exactly win like a champion in the first leg of the series. (6) EXIT CAM & (7) STARS ABOVE are both in form and could win given the right trip and pace scenario.

Race 8

(4) UP UP AND OUT is a horse I tried to find a way to pick against due to his 2 for 31 record over the last 15 months. But I can’t help but think that this class-dropper will be sitting a perfect trip while no worse than second. (3) SHORTSTACKED gets the Triple Crown of angles—positive post, class and driver changes. (6) AUSSIE REACTOR A has plenty of class and kept up nicely versus Sweet Lou in his qualifier.

Race 9

(9) PRINCE SHARKA has proven capable of winning at this level and has no issues firing off the gate and overcoming the bad draw. (3) BOILER BOB THE QB should enjoy the easier competition tonight. (6) STALLONE BLUE CHIP is at a winning level but was sick last week; mixed feelings. (1) A PLACE IN HISTORY sprinted home in 25 4/5 in his qualifier.

Race 10

(1) CANE RIDGE has been spectacular in consecutive weeks for trainer Douglas Dilloian Jr and while far from a lock, he seems like the one to play if you can get 2-1 or better. (4) TAMAYO won despite missing a month of action. This guy likes to win and will not go down without a fight. (6) MATTADOR D looks for a series sweep tonight but will need some pace help to get the job done. (2) MCRUSTY drew well and is a must on your exotic tickets.

Race 11

(1) TOWNSLIGHT HANOVER got unlucky to be coupled with A-2 and A-1 horses this week, but I’ll still take a shot with him over the likely heavy chalk (5) ALLSTAR LEGEND, who comes off another fast mile and could be hovering around an unpalatable 3-5. (6) MONTANA PABLO A is a Down Under import that has performed well at Yonkers.

Race 12

(2) PEMBROKE DEWEY looks pretty awful on paper but faces an abysmal collection of out-of-form horses and geldings. He is my shot-in-the-dark pick because I have to select horses in every race. (5) YES YOUR MATTJESTY has a recent second recently at this level. (9) READY TO WORK has some early speed; maybe he’ll leave fast.
