Best Bet: SHOW ME UP (14th) Spot Play: MCCLINCHIE N (10th) Race 3 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool Race 8 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool MEET STATS: 42 - 138 / $233.50 (-$42.50) BEST BETS: 7 - 11 / $23.50 (+$1.50) Race 1 (7) SNEAK ON BYE was used hard last week and paid the price. I’m not running to the windows to bet this one, but he does look to be the best of a dull group. (8) BET THE DRAGON closed well versus a runaway winner last time; contender. (1) SOMETHING TASTY rallied nicely from a tough spot in his career debut at Saratoga. I’m going to check him out on the track before considering. Race 2 (10) CLOUSEAU HANOVER came up short in his qualifier after missing three months of action. I’m expecting a tighter horse now and the addition of Bongiorno should mean he be hustled away from the tough outside post. (4) SOFER ships down from Saratoga in form and should be forwardly placed as well. (9) NO TALKING was racing in similar company at Saratoga but must navigate the outside post. (2) ULTIMATE FLYER N has probably been facing better at Philly; using. Race 3 (2) SUNSHINE WEST comes into this race on a good run while many of his competitors have been struggling. On paper he is just a step faster than this group. (6) FERNADO was racing in the same class as the top pick with some success and adding Callahan shouldn’t hurt. (1) BUD BAY has been racing very well but steps up against tougher here. (9) IMPRESSIVE ART would have a big shot to win from an inside post; using underneath only. Race 4 (5) STIRLING ESCORT flashed big speed at 41-1 and followed through fast fractions before tiring slightly. If Buter is aggressive again here, this gelding should have a big say. (7) ONEISALONELYNUMBER raced well in this class last time and only needs a smooth trip to contend. (1) JUSTIFIED is probably better down in class, but he has enough form and certainly a good enough post to threaten if things go his way. Race 5 (2) ROCK OF CASHEL is far and away the best horse in this race if he is ready to roll following a four month break. The sharp 1:57 2/5 qualifier at Freehold makes me think all systems are on GO. (4) SOUTHWIND COBRA comes off a nice performance and is the one to beat if the top one doesn’t come ready. (10) WAITING ON A WOMAN looks for three straight tonight. I just don’t see how he pulls it off from post 10. (5) IRON MINE BUCKY could be a player here if the pace setup works to his advantage. Race 6 (8) SALLY FLETCHER A has been spectacular up at Saratoga and should have a clear early run at the top in this spot. Import might just be this good. (10) WINDSUN GLORY has been keeping some very good company in the TVG and Breeders Crown. Logically she should be very tough to beat in here, but four weeks without racing and post 10 make her an iffy proposition for me if the price is short. (5) OK HEAVENLY has come to life in recent weeks but needs help in terms of a quick pace to win. Race 7 (4) SWEET ROCK was a game second behind the heavily favored Christen Me N last time. Let’s look for Brett Miller to gun out in this spot and secure another good trip behind (6) ALWAYS AT MY PLACE and edge past nearing the wire. The latter has plenty of early speed and is capable of wiring this field on a good day. (3) ALLBLACK STRIDE N made over $300k while winning 20 races Down Under. I’m not selling this guy short at this point and may pivot to him at the right price. (9) MELBERBY BEACH seems to have found his form now. There are worse price plays you could try. Race 8 (1) VANQUISHED had no chance from the outside posts at Yonkers. I’m expecting to see some early speed here at a decent price. (3) ART HISTORY should be on the move early and it wouldn’t be a shock to see him go a long way. (2) JK WILL POWER has plenty of form and only needs a reasonable trip to potentially score. Race 9 (9) JENERAL PATTON was used hard on the front and paid the price as one of my top plays last weekend. I’m going to stick with him here while down in class one level. (6) BULLET BOB was flat in the stretch last time while coming off a long layoff. Veteran knows how to win here and could prove very tough in his second start off the bench. (1) MORE DRAGON seems like more of an underneath player in this class but one that should be on all trifecta tickets and in many exacta plays. Race 10 (1) MCCLINCHIE N is another from the Shaun Vallee barn that seems to be in a winning spot this week. He has arguably been facing better foes at Yonkers and should be in close attendance with an upset chance. (4) JOHNNY Q dropped and got the job done a week aho and might be able to step up here with that confidence-builder under his belt. (3) DEMOCRACY N has raced well at Yonkers when he draws well. (10) BIG JER has high speed and I wouldn’t be shocked if he controlled the race. Race 11 (5) FLEM N EM N couldn’t get involved from post eight on the half-mile track last time. His prior form was fine and his class could shine through in this spot. (2) DURANT comes off a sharp score and has a history of racing well here. (3) GIVEN UP TERROR is another off a win; needs a trip to win. (1) CARDIAC FASHION drops in for a tag here for a top barn; expect a strong mile. Race 12 (5) AMERICANPRIMETIME drops down off a good speed try last Saturday. I’ve mostly avoided this guy on top in my analysis, but this looks like a winning spot for him. (6) ALLSTAR PARTNER is a sharp speedball that is hard to ignore in his current form. (2) E STREET PLAN is capable of going with any of these on his best day; needs a smooth journey. (4) SIR MACHALOT crushed a much weaker group; expecting a minor award. Race 13 (9) BRUCE’S MAGIC was a non-factor in his first start with Lasix added. I think we’ll see more aggression from him this week. (3) ELRAMA N was finally placed on the engine and never looked back. He can build on that effort. (2) LORD OF MISRULE put in a decent mile at Freehold following a layoff; more now? (10) IWILLMAKEYOUSAYWOW stopped badly last time but gets to drop in class now. From an inside post I would like his chances better. Race 14 (3) SHOW ME UP has romped in this class in consecutive weeks. There is no reason to think he won’t win again. (7) IDEAL SHADOW chased home the top pick as week ago and seems destined for a similar fate here. (8) WORKANDPLAYHARD takes a small step down the claiming ladder but I’d like his chances better from an inside post. (10) SKY IS THE LIMIT is racing well but drew poorly.   [DRF HARNESS NEWSLETTER: Sign Up for the FREE DRF Harness Newsletter. Fresh content and insights delivered each Thursday.]
