Race 1

(2) IDEAL SHADOW put in two solid qualifiers and appears ready to begin his career. With the main competitors drawn outside, this could be his lucky week. (1) JUST GOT PAID moves inside and appears to be a player. (10) CAPITAL ACCOUNT is stuck in post 10 and that is enough for me to shy away from him in the win spot. (8) SHADOW MARGEAUX finally found the winner’s circle in start 10.

Race 2

(6) AROCKIN HANOVER has been stuck with too many horses to pass lately. The abbreviated field this week should give driver Joe Bongiorno every opportunity to win. (4) BETTORS EDGE could be the lone speed; dangerous. (5) HYPNOTIC BLUE CHIP is clearly sharp enough to win. (2) DOVUTO HANOVER steps up to face the big boys; gut check.

Race 3

(4) WESTERN TRADEMARK got away near the back when he took a bad step at the start. After that he was in a dull flow with no real shot. I wouldn’t call his last race a key effort but I’d say this is an easier spot. (7) DUE WEST HANOVER raced okay in this class last time. (1) T M TOP GUN has a shot with the right trip. (3) HURRIKANE JON PAUL comes in from Freehold in fine form. That alone makes him a player.

Race 4

(5) DIABLO SEELSTER was hung every step of the mile when another horse left just to his inside last week. This race came up just as tough but this gelding could provide the most value. (7) STORMIN RUSTLER basically took the week off and still stormed home full of pace. He looks good on paper but is sure to be overbet. (8) MATTADOR D is back in for a tag and should be firing off the gate. (1) VICTORYDAZE WILWIN was super beating many of these last time.

Race 5

(1) SAMANDAR comes off a trouble line from post 9 where he was stuck in traffic and spent much of the mile unasked. I’m expecting a completely different steer this time around. (2) AVOGADRO HANOVER probably should have won last week but looks very playable again tonight. (9) THUNDER SEELSTER closed well in his Alagna barn debut.

Race 6

(7) ABELARD HANOVER never got involved last week. Pierce elects to take the call this time around and I’m hoping he fires him off the gate. (4) DIAL OR NODIAL drops down in search of form. He will wake up sooner or later. (1) HURRIKANE KINGCOLE was flat as I expected off the bench. Let’s look for more this week.

Race 7

(4) ALLSTAR LEGEND gets a one week stay in the Ron Burke barn as he is in the sale on Monday at the Meadowlands. I’m expecting his last start for Brittany Farms will be a good one. (8) UP UP AND OUT rallied impressively last time and seems to be trending forward. (6) FRESH N FAST has been getting checks in some tough races at Philly. My main concern is the five week layoff.

Race 8

(1) MEGA LIGHTNING finally draws well and also gets class relief. He looks bad on paper, but looks can be deceiving. (9) PANESTHETIC drops down again and has enough early speed to overcome the outside draw. (3) MISSISSIPPI HIPPY hails from a good barn. Can he stay close enough to the action to menace?

Race 9

(4) ROCKIN WIZARD takes his first shot at older foes. Four-year-old got stuck in a fast mile last time and held his own. (6) BETTORS GLASS catches a softer group this week and might be the one to beat. (9) EMERITUS MAXIMUS qualified well and has talent.

Race 10

(3) GALLANT SEELSTER was used hard going for the lead on a track that wasn’t exactly favoring speed last time. Plus he bled in that start; another shot with Lasix now added. (8) IMA GIGGITY FOOL has raced well of late and should be primed for a top effort in his third start since October. (4) TARPON HANOVER was a bit disappointing last week but draws better now.

Race 11

(1) BERKSHIRE BEAR is one of the sharper horses at the track right now. (8) WAKE UP PETER somehow went winless last year but rarely faced weak foes like this. He qualified well enough and has a big shot in his last start before the sale on Monday. (3) TRYS LITTLE PRINCE moves into the Burke barn.

Race 12

This appears to be a wide open race. (2) BURKENTINE HANOVER raced well last week (final half 54 1/5) with no shot. (3) MUSCLE BEACHBOY stole the race with a soft half most recently. I’m not sure he’ll be worth the short price. (8) LATE NIGHT JOKE is another that had no chance after chasing slow fractions; capable. (1) MANCHESTER threw in a dud last week. Maybe he didn’t like the off track.

Race 13

(9) ALEX BULLVILLE has been handled conservatively lately. He is the one to beat if put in a winning position. (3) DRAGON RIDGE has early speed in a race that seems to lack that quality. (2) ROCK THE WIND moves into the Burke barn. (7) YOU BET YOUR GLASS won going away versus lesser.
