Meadowlands: Qualifying Insider for March 16, 2012

Overcast skies surrounded the East Rutherford oval. The touch of moisture made the track extra fast and a few of the times were exceptional.

Race 2 – TEMPLE OF DOOM cruised along on the lead and never had an anxious moment, Classy 5-year-old was making his first start for new trainer Julie Miller and certainly looked like the trotter that has a 1:52.4 lifetime mark. He is eligible for the basement condition at many tracks.

Race 4 – FRED AND GINGER went a sparkling mile on the engine posting big fractions and the second fastest qualifying mile in harness racing history. He felt under a few light taps of the whip in the stretch in the ultra-fast mile.

FOILED AGAIN chased Ginger And Fred through those wicked fractions and kept up nicely in a strong lightener for the Levy series at Yonkers.

Race 6 – KRISPY APPLE could not have been sharper. She waited in the pocket behind modest fractions and stormed through the stretch while well in hand to win very easily. Look for her to be good in the opening leg of the Blue Chip Matchmaker series at Yonkers starting March 23.

SEE YOU AT PEELERS was hustled away to find a seat fourth and moved around a tiring foe around the five-eighths. She was pointed up the pylons to take aim in the stretch but did not appear to want to pass along the inside. When switched to the outside she finished willingly.

Race 8 – ASTOR went unasked through the stretch in a solid performance. He fits the bottom condition (NW2) and should be followed.
