The thermometer read 27 degrees under partly sunny skies at the New Meadowlands on Thursday morning. The track was listed as fast with a one-second allowance. The wind was calm. RACE 1- SUGAR QUEEN GABBY powered nicely off cover for Dube and stopped the clock in 155.1. RACE 4- BOOKEM used a strong stretch burst to win going away; fits nicely in a mid-level condition race. RACE 5- DON’T KNOW CHIP was raced easily for the first half before coming home with strong trot. He has been off a while and may need one more tune-up. RACE 6- MELVYN gapped a bit on the turn before coming with good stretch rally; hails from a hot barn and could be a price. RACE 10- COTTON CANDY was flying down the lane late and will be very tough to beat in a lower level condition race. RACE 13- CAMS YANKEE PRIDE did nothing for the first three-quarters; kicked home nicely and is ready for action at the $20,000 claiming level. RACE 14- SIR ZIGGYS Z TAM angled down the center of the lane and closed like a shot; sharp and ready. RACE 16- ROBURASCAL dug in gamely to fend off a classier opponent; second straight good qualifier and has to be ready now.
