The preliminary rounds of the Ms. Versatility Series for trotting mares wrapped up on Friday night at the Meadowlands with P L Jill winning the lone $40,000 flight. With mares like Hannelore Hanover and Pasithea Face S in Canada for the Maple Leaf Trot eliminations, only four mares competed in tonight's contest, and it would be OHO Diamond (Jim Marohn Jr.) clicking off fractions of 28 4/5, 57 4/5, and 1:26 with Caprice Hill (Andy Miller), P L Jill (Corey Callahan), and Broadway Donna (Andrew McCarthy) tracking her. In the far turn Caprice Hill popped to the outside from the pocket, and OHO Diamond and she would get a bit of separation on the other two mares.  While they were battling stride-for-stride through the lane, P L Jill began to close in, though, and in deep stretch P L Jill would get up, defeating Caprice Hill by a quarter of a length in 1:53 1/5.  OHO Diamond came in third and Broadway Donna was fourth. P L Jill is a 4-year-old daughter of Kadabra trained by Renaldo Morales III. for owner Dan Clements.  This was her eighth career victory, and she has now earned $94,389.  She was sent off at 5-2 and paid $7.00 to win. The Ms. Versatility Series will conclude with the final on Little Brown Jug Day at the Delaware County (Ohio) Fair.
