The New Jersey Sire Stakes season for 3-year-olds of both sexes and gaits kicked off on Friday evening at the Meadowlands with one $15,000 division for each group. The events for fillies were raced on the pari-mutuel program, and in the pace it would be Hypnotic Tale (David Miller) winning in 1:53 1/5.  She went to the lead, yielded to Hurrikane Empress (Yannick Gingras), then came back on in the lane to win by half a length.  Cruzinforavictory (Frank Milby) finished in third. The victorious Wishing Stone filly is trained by Deshawn Minor for owner/breeder Daniel Lengacher.  She broke her maiden in her 11th career start, and she pushed her bankroll to $30,133.  Samis Rolin Stone was sent off at 1-5 and returned $2.60 to win. The two New Jersey Sire Stakes contests for the boys were staged as non-wagering events, and Melanie's Fran (David Miller) began the action by winning the pace in a match race over Hypnotico (Austin Siegelman) by 9 3/4 lengths in 1:57 3/5. Melanie's Fran, a gelding by Hypnotic Blue Chip, is trained by Kevin McDermott for owner 80 Slot Right Stable.  Melanie's Fran is now a five-time winner in his life, and he has pocketed $128,000. In the colt trot Shoshie Deo (George Brennan) inherited the lead when U Need Stones (Gingras) jumped it off past the opening quarter and went on to score in 1:56 2/5.  U Need Stones rallied back for runner-up honors, and Brutal Storm (Eric Abbatiello) checked in third.
