Meadowlands: Friday 8/3 Analysis

CHAMPIONSHIP MEET STATS: 120 - 348 / $621.20

Best Bet: DRY GULCH (9th)     Spot Play: BANKER VOLO (3rd)

Race 1

This field is stacked with quality for a low level trot. (4) PROUD MOMENT gets class relief and the switch back to Tetrick in the bike. (5) WALDORF HALL might be taking the biggest class drop in the field, and also gets a new pilot in the bike. (1) ELLENS ISLE had the double-whammy of moving up in class and drawing post 10 last time. (8) LUCKYCHARM HANOVER took a month off and wasn’t bad last week; coming around?

Race 2

(5) BARN ART missed 16 months of action before his recent starts, so coming up short was expected. He should be a bit tighter now and has the speed to steal this against a lackluster bunch. (9) BRANDONS COLT has a winning mile this year that is faster than any in this group has posted over the last two years. (7) YOUTH UPRISING gets a major driver switch.

Race 3

(3) BANKER VOLO draws alongside the favorite and should be able to trot away with that one to secure a good trip; edge on price. (1) LITTLE BROWN FOX was extended too far and made a break last time. He is clearly the one to down in here and comes with three partners, including (1B) MODERN FAMILY, who seems to have matured a bit over the last few weeks. (5) POWER PLAY & (2A) FROM ABOVE looks like legitimate exotic players.

Race 4

(5) JINXYS DELIGHT added Lasix and showed some nice improvement. Her 1:56 4/5 final time is deceptive because the track was at least two seconds slower than her previous start. (8) LIZS LIL K K is a bit of a mystery having not raced in over a month, but this spot looks pretty easy and her past qualifiers were good. (1) ODDS ON GUINEVERE rolled against lesser in her most recent race. (10) PERSUASIVE HANOVER should be used on at least some of your tickets.

Race 5

This is another conditioned trot that came up much tougher than one would imagine. (7) LANSON finally gets some class relief and finds a spot where he can play without bringing his A game. (6) BIG SKY HURRICANE & (5) AISLING are each coming off of convincing wins. (2) ICE MACHINE is another dropper who could perk up.

Race 6

This selection is probably a case of my being stubborn and refusing to get off the bandwagon, but I still believe (2) BEATGOESON HANOVER is good enough to beat this bunch. There is outside speed in here to set her up. Maybe she is saving her best for the final. (5) PANTHOLOPS was impeded early in her last mile and wasn’t as bad as her line looks; price chance. (7) CHINA PEARLS should be able to make the top but might have plenty of company. (9) CEDAR DOVE is clearly a player if Pierce could work out a trip.

Race 7

(2) SOCIAL NETWORK goes from the penthouse to the outhouse condition-wise. He was simply overmatched last week; narrow call. (6) ROCKWEILLER has responded nicely to an off the pace style. (3) RELENTLESS DREAMER got back on track in his most recent race. (4) ZALL GOOD shows some lines that put him right there with this group.

Race 8

(9) SNIPER SEELSTER faces an easier field and adds Sears. (3) STORMIN RUSTLER hasn’t shown a strong will to win lately but still merits a look in here. (1) CULLENS BLUE JEAN has speed and the rail. (7) VEAL MARSALA was flat last time but has a chance.

Race 9

(2) DRY GULCH comes off a nice win for his new barn and faces a field without much early speed; good spot. (6) REMISSIONOFSINS drops back down and could actually offer a price. (1) CORKY BARAN finally draws well; no excuses. (8) TROUBLE HANOVER is sharp now.

Race 10

(4) RUN ON LUCK drops out of the Opens at Yonkers and gets my narrow call. (3) SHAYNA BABY was Tetrick’s choice over two others. (8) DRAGON PRINCESS finished ahead of many of these last time.

Race 11

(1) HES A BEACHBOY draws well and adds Tetrick; I’ll bite. (4) MISTER BARNETT N moves inside and should make the lead easily enough. (9) IN KENNYS HONOR got Pierce’s call over three others.
