Meadowlands: Friday 7/6 Analysis

CHAMPIONSHIP MEET STATS: 77 - 213 / $421.00

Best Bet: MAVEN (10th)     Spot Play: JERSEYLICIOUS (3rd)

Race 1

(5) MISTRESSTOTHESTARS took some air in her debut and still got the job done. Filly is a half-sister to Home Bed Advantage, who posted a career best 1:50 1/5 mark at 2. (4) NIKKI BEACH comes off a good qualifier but mom hasn’t produced any great ones in her previous two tries. (2) ROCKNROLLNITEMARE has been rolling along in the AM. Filly is the eighth foal from Banska Bela, who has produced a $210k and a $577k winner.

Race 2

(5) WIN MISSY B should handle this field easily enough. (1) QUARANTINE S seems to be moving in the right direction and could be live at a price. (3) RIVERFEST could be tough if she behaves.

Race 3

(1) JERSEYLICIOUS sat behind slow fractions and sprinted a 26-second final quarter to miss by a neck. This filly has good bloodlines and should be a price. (6) ODDS ON ALPHA couldn’t have looked any better in her debut; must use. (2) SHEBESTINGIN got the job done but doesn’t look like a killer to me. Maybe I’m wrong, but I won’t be using her on top. (3) IDEAL A LITTLE is a full sister to a decent one in Ideal In Vegas (1:51 2/5).

Race 4

(5) ZUEREST gets some needed class relief tonight and should perk up. (3) NO MONEY FUN raced well off the bench and now picks up Sears. (8) UPFRONTSTRIKESGOLD comes off a nice win; big chance. (4) GET CHIPPED can be a player if she stays trotting.

Race 5

(5) QUIT SMOKING NOW seems to have gotten over the breaking issues which plagued him at the end of 2011. I’ll take a shot with him in the hopes that (6) GUCCIO is just getting a tightener type of mile in his first try with Pierce at the controls. (7) DANDOVER comes off a nice score. This spot is not quite as easy.

Race 6

Nothing jumps off the page as far as the favorites are concerned, so I’m going to take a shot with (7) CHARGER BLUE CHIP. This Rocknroll Hanover colt is a half-brother to Brownsville Bomber, who was a decent 2yo and is racing in the 11th race. (9) TROON has done nothing wrong but is stuck with an outside post. (4) SOURCE OF PRIDE broke in his career debut. The full brother to American Jewel may deserve another shot. (3) ROCNROLWILNEVERDIE & (5) RALBAR are coming off qualifying wins.

Race 7

(5) ZUMBA MOUSE looked awesome the last time Tetrick was in the bike. He’s back! (4) ZOOMING is clearly fastest when he is on his game; must use. (6) AUTUMN ESCAPADE could be a bit tighter with the race under her belt. (9) IN FOCUS will offer some value this week; don’t toss him.

Race 8

Perhaps I’m a glutten for punishment, but I still see reason to back (8) BIGRISK. Yeah, he was flat last week but notice the final time is on par or better than the rest of this field. Also, I find it interesting that Brian Sears elected to stay here over (6) DUEL IN THE SUN, who impressed me with a strong two-move win in his career debut. (2) SOMEPLACE SPECIAL raced well if you can look past the break at the wire.

Race 9

(3) FROM ABOVE possesses ability but trainer Greg Peck has been content to bring him along slowly. This looks like a good spot for a coming out party. (5) PROUD MOMENT gets Tetrick in the bike and could show more. (2) SWAN IN A MILLION closed pretty well considering the long layoff.

Race 10

(3) MAVEN would have to break to lose. (1) AMERICAN SAINT lures Sears and comes off a win. (5) UPSIDE HANOVER is another Johansson trainee getting a switch to Tetrick.

Race 11

(2) MYLUVMYLIFE drops down and gets a nice driver switch. (1) BROWNSVILLE BOMBER finds the easiest spot she has seen in some time. (4) SHAYNA BABY is another who gets class relief.
