Race 1

(3) PERFECT PICTURE arrives at the Meadowlands in a new barn and against a suspect field. These Hannah Miller-driven horses have been overbet week after week here, but this one looks worth playing. (2) KING’S CAVALIER & (1) HALLANET were both stuck with outside posts while chasing a runaway winner last week. I would imagine they’ll be in closer attendance this time around.

Race 2

(2) BOSTON RED ROCKS hasn’t found much competition in his two career starts and is hard to go against here. (5) KATIES ROCKER took a shot at the winner but could not sustain his rally; upset chance if he improves. (6) IDEAL ROCKY had no shot at closing versus the top one last time. If #2 is forced to go faster than expected, this guy could get a big piece.

Race 3

(10) NEW LEAF is an interesting horse from a handicapping perspective. She took plenty of money in her debut and broke. Then she added hobbles and raced evenly versus better than she tackles tonight. Her baby race on June 27 shows she has the early speed to overcome the bad draw and John Campbell saw fit to choose her over two other contenders. (2) SOUTHWIND HOPE qualified in good order and picks up Yannick. (6) LEGAL LADY also raced well in the morning and looks ready for action.

Race 4

This is a wide open race where seven or eight appear capable of winning. (8) HOLLYWOOD HILL brushed and crushed in her career debut for Jimmy Takter and could offer value with the trainer in the bike again. (5) ALL THE TIME is the fastest of this group on record and she does pick up Gingras this week. (1) SILENT BLESSINGS couldn’t touch the former last week but clearly improved. Another step forward could get the job done. (3) DREAM CHILD seems to have plenty of ability and could bring a big mile at any time.

Race 5

(4) ELECTRIFY could be looked at as a bit of a stretch, but he is getting post relief, picks up Tetrick in the bike and is only making his third start for this barn. There are enough angles here to roll the dice. (1) WHITTAKER raced huge last time, as did a few from the Russo barn that night. Hard to say if he’ll be as good again. (6) BREAK DANCER has raced well since returning from a layoff and looms a threat. (10) EIGHT TEN EOM moves into a barn that is good with these cheap reclamation projects.

Race 6

(7) BEE A MAGICIAN doesn’t exactly face the best group this week and should take care of business. (6) MARKET SHARE was super qualifying two starts back and wasn’t bad last week behind the top choice; puncher’s chance. (1) CLASSIC MARTINE has early speed and the pole position.

Race 7

(8) JACK VERNON has displayed some guts in his limited on-track action and that is a trait you can’t teach. He’ll be a healthy price on Friday and seems worth my hard-earned $$$. (4) BROOKLYN HILL has looked every bit as good as his $390K price tag so far and is clearly the one to beat. (9) SOUTHWIND FRANK was the next big thing heading into and out of his pari-mutuel debut, but broke in his second start. I wouldn’t give up on him too quickly. (5) BAR HOPPING looks fast enough to contend given the right trip. (10) MARION MARAUDER finished fast most recently.

Race 8

(9) THE SUMMER WIND gained some confidence while down in class and only lost to a mare that is in the Golden Girls on Saturday. Let’s give her the narrow call with Sears in the bike. (4) THAT WOMAN HANOVER has serious speed and like a few others in here drops in class. (5) TREVOR’S BEBE picked up a win in her last try at this level. (3) RIVER RUNS THRU IT has a chance to pull off a mild upset and remains a must-use on your exotic tickets.

Race 9

(3) DREAM ROCKER gets his nose on the gate this week and finds little early speed to his inside. If driver Joe Lee can keep the outside speed mostly at bay, he should work out a good pocket trip. (4) JACKS TO OPEN has received some tough trips of late. I’d expect this guy to make the front or sit close to the action. (10) KEYSTONE THOMAS came to play with a huge mile last time. Can he repeat that performance? (5) BLOOMFIELDCANTIFLY has early speed if she can get around the pair to her inside.

Race 10

(5) LIGHTNING STORM raced very well with hobbles added last time versus three horses that would be 1-5 in this field. He seems worth a shot. (4) DETROIT RAPPER raced well here earlier in the year and is coming off a decent effort. (2) GUILTYWITHANEXCUSE has inside speed and should be a part of the number. (8) WALLTOCOUSINS seems like a reasonable fit in this bottom-level event, but with Gingras signed on to drive he could be a major underlay. (9) ELIN got nailed at the wire last week and certainly has a shot to make amends.

Race 11

(1) JK FANNIE finished up with good energy in her first trip to the track. I can see her moving forward with that start under her belt. (5) SHOW TIME HILL sat the pocket behind rated fractions and couldn’t out-sprint (6) BLUE MOON STRIDE last time. That order can certainly be reversed this week. (3) ROCK MY GIRL is a clear player with any reasonable trip.

Race 12

(4) CODE BON was in over his head in the Beal and finally finds himself in a soft spot. (1) TRUE BLUE STRIDE is a horse I’ve always liked that just hasn’t put it all together; qualifiers were okay. (7) SOUTHWIND STRYKER makes his first start for Takter and could improve. (2) FIRST IN FLIGHT is a huge unknown. It is hard to gauge his worth off one qualifier were he chased better foes.

Race 13

(10) UP UP AND OUT looks like the best horse in the race if he can negotiate post 10. Anything can happen in this event filled with low-level types. Good Luck! (2) BIG RED gets a better post to work with and seems like the type of horse that Marohn can get home at a price. (6) AMERICHI hails from the Burke barn and adds Gingras.
