Best Bet: VOSS VOLO (6th) Spot Play: BETTERTHANBRIE (2nd) Race 2 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool Race 6 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool CHAMPIONSHIP MEET STATS: 34 - 101 / $175.40 (-$26.60) BEST BETS: 8 - 10 / $26.60 (+$6.60) Race 1 I loved the qualifying effort from (3) SEVIYORUM as she flew home to nail #1 at the wire. Normally I would avoid  her expecting a conservative try in her first start of the year and facing boys and elders, but in this short field I think the trip could work out. (2) HELPISONTHEWAY has a few races under his belt which could give him a conditioning edge on tonight’s competition. (4) DREAM BABY DREAM displayed flashes of ability at age 3 and now finds herself in a new barn with a catch-driver. Race 2 (5) BETTERTHANBRIE is back on a mile track and facing much softer competition tonight. (3) LULU DE VIE has some early speed and should be in a winning position. (7) THE SECOND STAR  tends to pace in the 1:53 range and that should make her a win candidate. Race 3 (2) WAR CRY HALL gets an inside post to work with this week and I expect he’ll be gunning to the front. Perhaps Hechkoff can finally pick up his first win of the year here. (4) MULTITASKR HANOVER was strangely assigned post 10 last week and has seen a string of poor posts of late. Let’s see what he can do from post four. (7) LILY’S SWAN POND has been racing against better and would be no surprise in this spot. Race 4 (5) OK HEAVENLY had no shot from post 10 last time but paced home strongly. In this short field she should be close enough to the action to strike late. (3) ROCKIN PRALINE came up short after five weeks off. She should show speed in this spot. (6) STORMTRACKER burned plenty of money last time out. She is capable of winning this race, as are just about any of the six, with the right trip. Race 5 (1A) DOUBLE L LINDY got run down by a quality mare that is slated to race in stakes competition this week at Mohawk. Along with entrymate (1) FLY ON, who was third in a similar class here back in April, they should prove tough to beat. (3) MISSLAROSE can throw in a break at any time but is more than fast enough to win if she minds her manners. (5) CELEBRITY EVENTSY has talent but lacks a catch-driver. Race 6 (9) VOSS VOLO gets major class relief as he comes out of the Empire Breeders Classic. Three-year-old has displayed the ability to take a bit of air on the rim and that may come into play from the outside post. (6) BROADWAY BRUISER seems to be progressing nicely and could split the two favorites. (8) REPENTANCE has shown that she can go a big mile at times and gets the same class break as the winner. Race 7 (2) CHEAP THRILLS was used up in the early pace last time and held OK. This seems like the perfect spot. (4) JENNA HANOVER raced steadily from an outside post last Friday; contender. (1) CLARA BEA has pylon position and enough early speed to stay close and get into the exotics. Race 8 (5) MASTER KINGPIN comes in from Freehold like many of these, but has better form and adds Tim Tetrick to the team. (10) GREAT EMANCIPATOR exits amateur races and reunites with Marohn. If he can make the top or find an early tuck, this guy has a huge chance to win. (4) KING CAST chased for second versus a runaway winner last week in this class. Race 9 (7) CRAZSHANA is nowhere near the horse he was a couple of years ago, but he was written into this cheap condition and has no excuses for failure. (3) GOLD MEDAL SWAN chased a sharp foe in his last two starts. If the top one falters he could be right there. (1) SEVENBUYELEVEN faces boys and elders. She seems to have enough ability but I’m not expecting an aggressive steer. (2) OSVALDO BLUE CHIP has some early speed; not impossible in the exotics.
