Race 1

(2) GREEN HORNUT seems to finally be moving in the right direction and I’m patiently waiting for the week where they set him loose on the engine. (6) DEJATIERO qualified very nicely and will be on most of my tickets. (5) HOME FRONT did what he needed to qualify but hardly impressed. That said, I think there is more to this colt than we have seen.

Race 2

(7) MOJARRA HANOVER took a C-2 field to task last week and may have found an even easier group this Friday. Veteran mare should crush this field. (1) WATTAQUEEN does look great on paper, but this isn’t the greatest field ever assembled. I expect her to get a decent piece. (3) THE SUMMER WIND has some speed and a bit of class in her corner.

Race 3

(6) WALK THE WALK cruised in the slop at Pocono and seems to have found a decent spot tonight. (1) MONTALBANO BI rode a perfect trip to victory last time. (10) SILVERHILL VOLO comes off a decent effort but is stuck with an outside post.

Race 4

(5) MISTRESSTOTHESTARS flashed good speed last time and lost by less than two lengths. She should take charge in this spot. I really wanted to pick (9) CAROLSTERN as my top pick, but was having trouble stomaching her 1-for39 recent record. She is coming off a decent effort and adds Dave Miller. (10) JARNAC has early speed but simply refuses to win.

Race 5

(4) TEAM SIX was a decent fourth in his first start since September and this Erv Miller trainee faces a slightly softer group this time. (2) CLEMENTINE DREAM gets a better post to work with this week. (10) BROADWAY ROCKS has enough early zip to overcome the outside post.

Race 6

(2) SIMPLE SAVER N was part of the early pace and just missed on a track that clearly was not kind to horses on the front; can rebound. (1) GALLIE BYTHE BEACH makes her 3-year-old debut versus older mares. If she is ready, this talented filly by Somebeachsomewhere is more than capable. (9) MONOCHROMATIC has been racing well and should do so once again.

Race 7

(2) TIME TO QUIT has been racing better since moving into the Carmen Auciello barn. Four-year-old gelding has as good a chance as any in here. (7) SMOOTHER RIDE has caught a case of seconditis lately. He should be a threat with any decent trip. (3) LIGHTNING STORM isn’t as bad as his late effort would indicate. This guy could rebound at a price. (4) LAUDERDALE has speed and ability.

Race 8

(7) VICTORIA MAY N raced better in his qualifier than it looks on paper and clearly was just taking in the scenery at Yonkers last time. I’m hoping to get a price and that he’ll be handled somewhat aggressively. (6) MARINADE HANOVER did all the heavy lifting on the engine on a night when speed wasn’t good; very dangerous. (4) PRECIOUS ROSE N navigated through traffic for the narrow victory in her first start for the new barn.

Race 9

(10) HELIOS actually behaved and raced pretty well last time. I can see him leaving in this spot and taking control of the race. (5) CAPTAIN PRIMEAU and (4) PT’S BOOMERANG seem to have some early speed in a race that seems to lack that quality.

Race 10

(7) UPFRONTSTRIKESGOLD finished very well last time and could be ready to get on track. (6) MR RIDGETAKER has been very consistent at this level. (3) SINA has two thirds in this class. (10) TSMLIL ORPHAN ANDY is another with a good history in this condition; post hurts.

Race 11

(7) OPENING NIGHT finds a field with enough early speed to set him up from off the pace. (5) BAMBINO GLIDE is very sharp now. (2) WORLD CUP lost all chance when impeded last time; player.

Race 12

(10) RAGAZZO DOLCE has flashed some ability and tackles a weak group of trotters. (8) ARRIBA AMIGO should flash his early speed and get a big piece. (7) CALIPARI gets a new driver this week; maybe.

Race 13

(2) CAROLSIDEAL probably lost due to driver error when she was nailed to the wire by an unsuspecting closer. She should make amends tonight. (7) BELLE BOYD won’t find a much easier spot; using. (6) IDEAL A LITTLE should get a share versus this group.
