CHAMPIONSHIP MEET STATS: 60 - 156 / $316.60

Best Bet: DROP THE BALL (10th)     Spot Play: HIGHLAND YANKEE (7th)

Race 1

(8) SHE WEARS IT WELL has been in some tough spots on the occasions when Pierce has been in the bike. Despite her 1 for 14 record, I’ll give her one more chance. (5) CHOCOHOLIC closed okay last week; adds Sears. (1) WEEKEND VACATION comes off two decent tries.

Race 2

(9) SASSY SYRINX was super in round one of the NJSS, broke in leg two, and faced much tougher competition last time. This is a wake up spot if I ever saw one. (2) WORLD CUP seems to be getting better with each start. (6) INSIDE BROADWAY has been chasing in some decent miles lately.

Race 3

(1) ODDS ON GUINEVERE raced well upon arrival and adds an aggressive pair of hands this week. (3) BABE PER VIEW had no excuses last time. She can’t be as bad as she was last week, can she? (2) LIL MISS BOURBON has been getting good checks in some quick miles at New York tracks.

Race 4

(4) CELEBRITY PLAYBOY blitzed lesser last week. He tackles some interesting 3yos this time around but was impressive enough to get me to keep the faith. (2A) MONEY ON MY MIND wasn’t going far on the rim in a 1:51 4/5 mile at Pocono. This spot is clearly easier. (1A) ONE IN A MILLION rallied impressively in his 2012 debut. Guess we’ll see how much talent this colt has; Sears’s call.

Race 5

(4) ZUMBA MOUSE has looked super in this miniseries and won completely on his own last week. (5) DOUBLE UP HANOVER seems to be at his best from off the pace. I’m assuming he’ll be setting up shop just behind my top choice. (2) LUV YA TYLER made a big recovery last time. If he trots he could win. (1B) BIG SKY ANGELINA & (1A) BIG SKY HURRICANE are two-thirds of a decent entry.

Race 6

(4) BETTOR B LUCKY has been in over her head against Major Look and Handsoffmycookie; two of the better 3yo fillies in training. This spot is not easy, but she should have a mild upset chance. (1) RAM ROCKER kept tough company in the NJSS and couldn’t rally into a pretty slow pace last week; big chance. (3) HOW BOUT A SMOOCH always seems to be right there on the wire.

Race 7

(7) HIGHLAND YANKEE has been aiming high lately and finally gets a chance to compete outside of stakes company. He displayed his first signs of life this year with a strong opening quarter in last week’s Beal eliminations. (6) BANKER VOLO has done nothing wrong in two career trips to the track. (4) UPSIDE HANOVER had missed a few weeks before her last start and could be tighter now.

Race 8

(5) THE CHANCELLOR beat up on lesser in his most recent. Classy gelding seems to be moving in the right direction and would be no shock despite facing this salty group. (1) IN FOCUS is clearly a big risk to break, but Pierce is back in the bike and he does get some class relief. (6) LADY ANDOVER is feeling good now.

Race 9

(5) EPIC TALE has some clear questions to answer but does appear to have some ability. Normally I would pass on a horse coming off a break in his qualifier, but this is a very weak bunch. (6) DANDOVER has been in very tough lately. I would expect him to show improvement. (1) NEW YORK MUSCLE dropped and popped last week. He’ll need to go faster to win this race.

Race 10

(1) DROP THE BALL closed well from an impossible spot at Tioga last time. This is clearly her race to lose. (2) KRISPY APPLE & (2A) NEW ALBUM look like the most talented of the rest of these fillies. Plus you get two for one! (5) FOXY LADY has early speed.

Race 11

(2) MISTER KING might be able to surprise in here. That last qualifier was against Chapter Seven and he kicked home nicely in :27 1/5. This trainer sent out a horse off a similar angle to score at 23-1 on Tuesday at Yonkers. (9) HIGH PAN TOLERANCE drops down. That alone makes him stand out. (7) R SAM gets Gingras in the bike this week. I like the driver change.

Race 12

(6) ACE OF PACE finds a very easy spot. She should romp. (2) OBSESSIVE ARTIST gets a driver switch to Sears. (1) FANCY PANTS SANDY has some speed and the cones.
