Spot Play: OUR ELS DREAM (7th)

Race 1

(5) GREAT SOCIETY hasn’t really given me a strong reason to think he is going to pop up with a big mile, but he proved last year he can trot a fast enough mile and this barn was hot last week. (1) LIGHTNING FORCE was able to a trot a 26 4/5 third quarter in his recent qualifier. That caught my eye. (3) O NARUTAC PERFETTO has been racing well and looks like a must use at least underneath in exotics. (6) MARTINIWITHMUSCLE won at this level last time.

Race 2

(7) BLUSH HANOVER is perfect in three career starts and Tetrick chose to drive her over a few other good options. (5) BOLT OF THUNDER picked up her game in start two of the year; very capable. (2) SANDBETWEENURTOES qualified nicely but you can’t like that Tetrick chose another horse.

Race 3

(10) TRIXTON was raced conservatively and charged home in the stretch. This guy is loaded with talent and even post 10 shouldn’t get in his way. (5) DEWEYKEEPUMNWHY proved he has some GO last year and comes off a good recent qualifier. (1) WELL BUILT was jammed up and broke in the Dexter Cup elimination. Don’t sell this one short. (4) LUKAS HALL finished well in his first start of the year.

Race 4

(5) MR RIDGETAKER raced pretty well in his 2014 return effort. Team Marshall 5-year-old is more than capable of besting this group. (2) TSMLIL ORPHAN ANDY gets post relief; one to beat. (3) THE TRAVELER arrives for a barn that has done well here.

Race 5

(4) BELLE BOYD took a step in the right direction by finishing a solid second last time. Former 3-year-old standout might finally be ready to step up against older foes. (7) ODDS ON AVENTURE finished nicely last time and looms a serious threat. (8) ALWAYS ON A ROLL made my Horses to Watch list when she overcame an early break and had traffic issues in the stretch. That said, I’m not convinced she is fast enough to beat this group.

Race 6

(4) GETTINGREADYTOROLL was locked in the pocket and loaded with pace before making a break last week. Look for Gingras to keep her out of trouble this time. (6) ROCKINGCAM PARK raced gamely in her 2014 debut; major threat. (5) FANTICIPATION saved ground in a decent effort upon arrival.

Race 7

(2) OUR ELS DREAM N responded to the addition of Lasix by storming home through the stretch. This one might be ready to fire a big shot. (6) MATTIE TERROR GIRL is off a sharp mile and is worth following. (7) HOT LIST drops down for Burke/Gingras.

Race 8

(7) HERE COMES NUMBERS got his act together and finished strongly without breaking last time. There seems to be ample early speed signed on to set up his late rally. (2) HIGH BRIDGE gets Pierce in the bike this week and could be in line for a nice second-over trip from this post. (6) REAL BABE figures to leave hard and is clearly sharp. (1) WORLD CUP is a consistent performer.

Race 9

(4) ARIA J has been charging home each week from outside posts. If Tetrick can keep her a bit closer, she’ll pounce on the group in the lane. (5) LEAVEUMLADY finds a field that lacks early speed and she can take advantage. (1) WOMAN OF TERROR steps up in fine form. (8) TOP BRAND drops down from the B-2 level and would be no surprise.

Race 10

(3) HANDOVER BELLE closed well last time from post 10. Four-year-old mare has plenty of class and should be able to best this field. (5) BROADWAY ROCKS raced well in his first start of the year; must use. (4) MARCH AWRENESS is too sharp to ignore.

Race 11

(4) SOMWHEROVRARAINBOW comes back to the Meadowlands off her victory in the Blue Chip Matchmaker series at Yonkers. She should handle this field. (2) FEELING YOU hasn’t appeared sound enough to handle the turns at Yonkers. The switch to the big track should help. (5) AMERICAN IN PARIS has speed and form; good combo. (3) SCANDALOUS HANOVER gets tested this week.

Race 12

(7) JURGEN HANOVER stayed flat and also made a bold move last week. Four-year-old gets to drop in class once again and should be very live. (1) WHEELS draws inside and should benefit from being closer to the action. (6) PAISLEY gets class relief.

Race 13

(5) BROWNSVILLE BOMBER raced evenly at the B-2 level here a month ago and now gets to try C-2 types; great spot. (3) ALITTLEEASTERMAGIC gets some post relief. (6) IDEAL A LITTLE was facing tougher last week.
