Spot Play: IDEAL A LITTLE (2nd)

Race 1

(8) ONLINE EXCLUSIVE put in a serviceable qualifier last week to prepare for her 3-year-old debut. They thought enough of her as a 2yo to place her in the Peaceful Way at Mohawk; edge. (6) CANTAB ABS finished well in his first start of the year, but that last quarter was hardly a trot explosion. (9) VARIETY GIRL showed enough in the morning that I would give her a shot if the trip worked to her advantage.

Race 2

(7) IDEAL A LITTLE raced well against a sharp winner in that last qualifier and her 1:53 mile from last year does stick out. (3) CULT STATUS has earned more than the rest of the field combined; one to beat. (9) JK SONGSUNGBLUE has some speed in her bag of tricks and could get lucky if they leave her alone on the engine.

Race 3

(8) ARCH MADNESS gave notice last week that he is starting to feel good with an uncovered move. This is a tough spot but the price should remain worthwhile. (5) WISHING STONE improved in his second start of the season and should be tough on the engine once again. (6) UNDERCOVER STRIKE has been super in his qualifiers.

Race 4

(4) POSSESSED FASHION raced very well in his 2013 debut despite a conservative steer. This guy seems to have some ability and I'm guessing he'll show more this week. (1) SILVER CREDIT comes off a pair of credible qualifiers and has a top catch driver in the bike. (7) ONLY IN MY DREAMS added hobbles and stayed flat last time. (2) SUZELLE HANOVER seems to have a nose for the wire but faces a much faster group this week.

Race 5

(6) DRAGON PRINCESS came to play last time and showed her class; again. (1) QUEEN OF ROYALTY had no shot from post eight at Yonkers. She returns here at a reduced level. (7) LOVE YOU BYE finds a field without a ton of early zip and could hang around for a healthy share. (9) GORDYYYS PET drops a bit and picks up Tetrick. (10) BEST BOSS was chasing some good ones in the morning.

Race 6

(7) EXPLOSIVE ACTION has a nice tab of improving qualifiers over this track and the one break was due to being in tight quarters. I believe this guy may be better than he looks on paper. (5) SHOW TICKET looks like the clear one to beat off that sizzling qualifying romp at the Meadows. (1) ME AND CONDERELLA has some nice races under his belt and figures to be a major player.

Race 7

Normally I would not pick a horse like (5) LOVE CANAL in her first start of the year against conditioned foes. But she is so much better than most of these that I have no choice. (4) LADYS ART raced well in the Night Styles and seems to have lucked into the C-1 class. (9) DAY BLUE CHIP had a horror trip last time and deserves respect. (10) ABROKENART HANOVER has picked up her game with Lasix added.

Race 8

(6) ELLENS ISLE moves into a strong trotting barn and gets a good deal of class relief this week. Combined with Callahan choosing here over three others, I have to like her. (5) DASH FOR THE CASH finds the perfect spot to show some early speed. (2) FROM ABOVE has come to life for Silva but the new driver is a concern. (4) CAMERON CHIP went an uncharacteristic mile last time and now gets Gingras in the bike; using.

Race 9

(7) HELIOS has had a tough time getting over the top lately and I think the outside post will actually aid his late rally. (5) SPECTATOR K comes off a sizzling win and is always dangerous. (2) DOUBLE UP HANOVER gets class and post relief this week and can certainly perk up. (8) FASHION ATHENA is a talented young filly who likes to be on the engine and finds a fast foe to her inside.

Race 10

(7) MARCUS BI has little form to speak of, but gets away from outside posts on smaller ovals and adds Gingras. He gets the weak call against a weak bunch. (11) BIG SKY ANGELINA has been consistent lately. If she can avoid trouble from the second tier, she has a big shot. (2) SWIFT KID faces easier and should be close to the action. (10) TIGERS TOO GOOD looks good if he can overcome the outside draw.

Race 11

(3) AUBSESSION rallied nicely in his debut for this barn and is certainly eligible to improve. (5) CHEYENNE PATTI should be a major threat and only needs a reasonable trip to get involved. (4) IF I DIDN'T CARE was a winner when last seen at this level.

Race 12

(3) MISS STEELE qualified back nicely and had a pretty good 2-year-old campaign. She should offer a price in here. (5) LADY DYNAMITE looked much better in her romp recently; one to beat. (7) TIME TO KILL is a Breeders Crown runner-up, but I wouldn't be shocked if they raced her easy this week. (1) ANDIE SOPHIA looked good in the morning and has Tetrick.

Race 13

With a cheap trot race like this, most of these would not shock me on the win end. (2) WALLTOCOUSINS & (1) HABANERO both have inside speed and should be controlling the action. (4) BIG SKY BATS has some form but doesn't exactly love the winner's circle.
