Best Bet: DOUBLE L LINDY (8th) Spot Play: FINA PATINA (7th) Race 2 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool Race 7 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool CHAMPIONSHIP MEET STATS: 18 - 59 / $108.00 (-$10.00) BEST BETS: 5 - 6 / $15.80 (+$3.80) Race 1 (2) SAMIS ROLIN STONE was never in danger of losing last week as the heavy chalk. Three-year-old loses her catch driver for the trainer but at least that helps her off odds. (5) DIAMONDSTONE US has 11 career starts and eight second-place finishes; bad trend. (3) PRINCESS MARXXX looks fast enough to win on paper but hasn’t raced in four weeks. Race 2 (2) ROCKIN REDFORD took some air and held well when switched to the amateur ranks last week. Moving to a better post can make the difference. (1) TOSS CARTWRIGHT raced just evenly after six weeks on the sidelines; can improve. (10) GLOBAL REVOLUTION has the early speed to overcome post 10 but I’d want at least 5-2 to take a shot with him. (4) SHADY MCCOY is far from sharp but can certainly make his way into the number. Race 3 (4) U NEED STONES made a big recovery after a break to finish second last time out. If he minds his manners there seems to be no way to beat him. (1) SHOSHIE DEO cruised on the lead and took advantage of the top choice’s misadventure last Friday; main threat. (2) BRUTAL STORM & (3) PAGING DOCTOR TEO look like also-rans in this short field. Race 4 I don’t see much separating (1) CRUZINFORAVICTORY, (5) HYPNOTIC TALE and (2) HURRIKANE EMPRESS after they finished less than two lengths apart last week. I’ll take a shot with #1 since she’ll clearly be the best price of the trio. Race 5 (4) FIRST CALL comes off a mile at Vernon that just jumps off the page. I’m somewhat concerned that he could break, but as long as I get 2-1 or higher, the risk seems worth the reward. (9) CREDICONE hasn’t been put in play yet. If Trond gets aggressive I can see this guy making some noise. (5) ZEPHYR KRONOS likely has the most talent in the field but is also still green. As a potential favorite that will likely be getting away slowly, I can’t endorse him as a good betting option. Race 6 (6) FREAKONOMICS has won two straight and proven game in victory. Four-year-old has done well facing older foes for the first year and has a win over the track this year. (4) ELLA CHRISTINA is certainly fast enough to win and the driver change to Gingras is nice. (1) SAIL TO THE BEACH gets a better post to work with but rates more as an exotics player for me. Race 7 (7) FINA PATINA was a winner in this class when last seen here. In a field lacking form and early speed, she seems well spotted. (8) MYLITTLESURFERGIRL tries the big track after even efforts from outside posts at Yonkers. Maybe Gingras can wake her up. (2) CLASSY CHAPEL N wasn’t great in her qualifier but was facing tough foes. She should be competitive in here. Race 8 (6) DOUBLE L LINDY dropped and popped for new trainer Julie Miller. This field doesn’t look any better than the one he handled easily last time. (2) GOLD MEDAL SWAN chased the winner home for second a week ago and could be looking at a similar result. (3) PAPPY GO GO drops back down and should offer some value. Race 9 (1) IT’S CHOCOLATE TIME was claimed by a solid barn and picks up the track’s leading driver. He’s no lock but certainly worth strong consideration. (8) CHECKMATE TIME is very comfortable at this level but is hurt by the outside post. (4) SKATES N PLATES is very capable if on his game. Race 10 In a race with little to no form, (1) ONE MORE MIRACLE was used up early and paid the price last week. If he can’t win from this spot, it is time to move on. (3) STEADY PULSE, (2) VICTORY AT LAST and (5) WAKINYAN get positive driver changes and could perk up. [DRF HARNESS NEWSLETTER: Sign Up for the FREE DRF Harness Newsletter.
