Meadowlands: Friday 5/25 Analysis

CHAMPIONSHIP MEET STATS: 25 - 72 / $132.80

Best Bet: LANSON (7th)       Spot Play: PERSONAL STYLE (4th)

Race 1

(1) LITTLE BROWN FOX went a nice steady mile in his 2012 debut and actually trotted faster than the likely favorites in here. (3) VIC SMITH proved very game last week and seems to have come back ready. (6) GYM TAN LAUNDRY might elect to take it easy and not leave tonight with the final coming up next week.

Race 2

(4) VALLEY IVAN needs a strong showing to make next week’s final. He lost by less than three lengths to (2) BIG CHOCOLATE and now gets a nice driver switch to Pierce. The latter is perfect this year and clearly a big threat. (3) MARKET SHARE posted a nice mile in defeat; hard to toss.

Race 3

(1) POWER PLAY is a well-bred youngster that never lived up to his potential at two. His qualifiers were just so-so, but this field came up very light. (4) MRS MRS JONES hails from a barn that knows how to win races here; maybe. (8) WORLD CUP has good early speed and won his 3yo debut.

Race 4

(3) PERSONAL STYLE is another who needs a big effort to make it into next week’s final. She charged home with no shot last week and draws better tonight. Notice that Miller sticks here over #2,5. (2) SHANTY IRISH righted the ship last week with a nice effort; sits close. (6) LOOSE DEUCE should flash some speed and get a nice piece.

Race 5

(5) SASSY SYRINX surprised a lot of people with a monster brush and huge effort while uncovered. She should set up nicely second over this week. (4) TALBOTCREEK JEWELY comes off a solid win. (6) VANITY TREASURE was impeded on the final turn but finished up nicely.

Race 6

(5) SYNERGY SEELSTER gets some much needed class relief and a nice mid-pack post to help her work out a trip. (7) NITE GAMES also drops down and has plenty of early zip. (4) ACE OF PACE doesn’t find much speed to her inside; chance at a price.

Race 7

(2) LANSON gave notice last time that he is ready to awaken from his winter slumber. (4) TAKE MY PICTURE got a nice confidence building win versus lesser under his belt. (1) ELLENS ISLE chased a good foe in a big qualifier last week. (10) UNCLE PETER might turn out to be better than any of his elders signed on to this race. But from post 10 in his first start of the year and a main goal of winning the Hambletonian, I’m not exactly expecting him to gun to the front.

Race 8

(9) DRAGON PRINCESS is one of many dropping in class in this field. I’m giving her the edge because she has good early speed and should work out a trip. (1) SIGNAL has displayed some signs of life lately and could be ready to bring a nice effort. (8) LOVE THIS PLACE plunges quite a few classes but hasn’t shown much early zip. (10) SHANGHAI LIL is another dropper with a shot.

Race 9

(6) FANCY faced tougher foes in her NYSS assignment than she tackles this evening. This Conway Hall-sired lass showed some go at two and looks to have found a sweet spot. (4) CATHYS PRINCESS finished a solid second behind a nice looking young colt last time. (10) MODERN FAMILY stayed flat with the hobbles added but is hardly one that makes me want to run to the windows.

Race 10

If one of my top three doesn’t win this race it is anyone’s guess who will score. (3) BOINGA gets class and post relief tonight. (7) MASSIVE DRAMA chased a better foe last time and kept up nicely. (9) ZUEREST can get the job done with a smooth trip.

Race 11

(4) BLOMKVIST surprised me with a nice effort from post 10 last time. Perhaps he’ll be tighter tonight. (2) CHOCOHOLIC shocked everyone by rolling home to win going away. It is hard to ignore her now. (6) JERSEY BOY faced much, much tougher last time. He would be no shock in here. (9) LIGHTNING STORM seems fast enough to win but may not have the gate speed needed to overcome the bad draw.

Race 12

(2) SHARRON R gets an interesting driver switch to Dube after two even efforts. I’ll take a shot in this wide open field. (3) MUV CALIENTE not only gets a new pilot but also moves into the Burke barn. (6) CHILDS PLAY was in over her head last week. She should fit nicely with this group. (9) CAROLSIDEAL has been racing well and Lachance knows how to send them hard to the front.
