Best Bet: BROTHERS N ARMS (2nd) Spot Play: YO APOLLO CREED (3rd) Race 2 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool Race 6 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool CHAMPIONSHIP MEET STATS: 7 - 20 / $36.20 (-$3.80) BEST BETS: 2 - 2 / $7.20 (+$3.20) Race 1 (2) JUSTICE JET arrives at The Meadowlands and picks up a good post to work with here. This 7-year-old has class and fits with these. (4) PARTY ON THE RIVER has the early speed to make the front and that alone makes him dangerous. (6) CALL MY BROKER seems to have awoken with Lasix added to his regimen. I wouldn’t be reprised if he stepped up. Race 2 (1) BROTHERS N ARMS finished up very willingly in his latest qualifier and seems well-spotted for a win here. (5) QUALITY KEMP was used early and paid the price late in his 2018 debut. Let’s not give up on this guy too fast. (7) PERFETTO rallied impressively to capture his first start of the year; post 8 hurts tonight. Race 3 (1) YO APOLLO CREED doesn’t exactly have the best head but he certainly has some GO in the tank. This is the kind of field he has been waiting for to shine. (7) DANISHDUJOUR might not have a top catch-driver but is a very good fit in this lower class. (6) ARTS BLAZE & (5) RU READY TO ROCK both figure to be exotic players and maybe more with a good trip. Race 4 (4) CHECKMATE TIME made a break last time, which is nothing new from this gal. She is more than capable of rebounding. (3) WINWOOD SCOUT looks like the favorite after a solid showing versus a runaway winner last time. (2) WHATNBLAZES raced evenly versus better in his last race. Race 5 (1) TWIN B TUFFENUFF raced a bit greenly in the stretch but really had no shot at catching a good-looking foe in Decoy. He can pick up his game with that start under his belt. (5) LIVEONTHEPHONE overcame a miscue to rally nicely for second behind (3) SURFING TIDE two weeks back; both horses figure here. (7) MAJOR AUTHORITY romped in his first start of the year; big test this time. Race 6 There are a bunch of horses coming into this race off qualifiers and that’s where I’m focusing my attention. (6) CELEBRITY RUTH finished second behind Ariana G in her lone qualifier; no shame in that. Four-year-old had more in the tank and should offer a sweet price with David Miller opting off. (2) ATLANTA also looked great in the morning and seems like a filly with a future. (3) FASHIONWOODCHOPPER is a colt with high expectations but despite finishing with the same time (1:54) as Atlanta in a qualifier, I didn’t feel like he could’ve went any faster that morning. Race 7 (7) PHIL YOUR BOOTS returns to The Meadowlands at a far reduced level and really should take care of business. (3) KINGS BARNS gets post and class relief while retaining Gingras in the bike. (2) MEDOLAND JATE brings some sharp Freehold form with him. Race 8 (7) CHROMEO was climbing the ladder nicely before getting stuck behind a wall of horses last week with no chance to advance. I view this as a good spot for this 4-year-old to attempt to wire the field. (5) MONTALBANO BI would be the obvious one to beat in this class a few months back but just hasn’t responded in this barn. I respect his chance but would want value. (2) STITCH IN TIME arrives for a barn that has been doing well here lately. (1) MEADOWBRANCH GLIDER is way down in class and eligible to awaken. Race 9 None of these inspires me to run to my computer to make a bet, but (2) VICTORYDAZE WILWIN raced very well last time and has a history of coming up big in soft spots here. (5) ROLL WITH HOWIE faces much easier than when he was here two starts back. (1) DEBT OF HONOR & (3) STEADY PULSE won over the track last year, which is as good a reason as any in this field.  [DRF HARNESS NEWSLETTER: Sign Up for the FREE DRF Harness Newsletter.
