Meadowlands: Friday 5/11 Analysis

Best Bet: BEATGOESON HANOVER (8th)      Spot Play: ENOUGH TALK (11th)

Race 1

(4) PICCOLO SOGNO qualified nicely for his 3-year-old debut and probably has a couple of second in the tank. I’ll take a shot. (2) VOLARE DE VIE comes off a break, but I see that as an opportunity to get a better price. (1) SOUTH JERSEY BUGSY has shown consistent speed. (5) NEW YORK MUSCLE raced okay last time; chance.

Race 2

(1) MR CANDYMAN surprised me by coming from off the pace last week. I would expect more speed from the cones. (6) HOPE AND LOVE moves in a few slots in her second start of the year; could improve. (9) MODERN FAMILY comes with some ability but has many questions to answer. (2) REVEREND arrives with a good record.

Race 3

(10) MR CHICAGO should be plenty tight after chasing in a quick qualifying mile. Driver Yannick Gingras has done very well from post 10 this year. (4) GHIRADELLI LINDY & (6) STIR ME UP both made breaks in the same race last week as nearly co-favorites. Maybe they didn’t care for the footing following two weeks of inactivity on the track.

Race 4

(6) RYDER BLUE CHIP and (5) RAMALAMA have proven to be faster than the rest in this group. Both are coming off long layoffs but have qualified back well enough to expect a good showing. (2) NOTREADYTOBENICE was a bit short last time.

Race 5

There are some nice young colts signed on to this event. (3) MY MVP scored at first asking in his seasonal debut and can certainly improve off that effort. I’ll take a shot with him at an expected good mutuel. (8) GOOGOO GAAGAA would be undefeated if not for a costly break two starts back. He has already trotted nearly two second faster than any in here. (1A) MAGIC TONIGHT qualified pretty well and is part of a good entry. (6) ROYAL SHYSTER was a high priced purchase. Qualifiers were just okay and this field came up tough.

Race 6

This race came up tough. I’ll give the edge to (6) RUB THING, who was a winner when last seen here at this level. This barn has been red hot lately. (1) CUZ SHE CAN couldn’t overcome the outside draw last time but held her ground very well. (8) WILDFIRE OSBORNE is in fine form.

Race 7

(2) SHE WEARS IT WELL is certainly the most accomplished filly on the money side of the ledger. Pierce takes the call in her second start of the year and improvement seems possible. (5) RIVERFEST added hobbles this year and has posted two decent qualifiers; capable. (7) LOOSE DEUCE raced well in the Lady Suffolk. (3) TALBOTCREEK JEWELY is another youngster from the Toscano barn; use.

Race 8

(5) BEATGOESON HANOVER wasn’t ready for action when she was here in April. Now she returns with a couple of starts under her halter and she should be ready to take home the top prize. (8) CAMERON CHIP is one of those honest horses that doesn’t know the end of the mile and keeps chugging along each week. I like her in this spot but can’t pick her on top because the driver change to Sears will kill any potential price. (2) DON’T KNOW CHIP is more than capable at this level; no catch-driver, though.

Race 9

(2) OPENING NIGHT is a bit of a guess on my part because you never know when this guy will decide to show up. That said, I’m willing to take a shot on the class drop. (1) COCO LINDY pounced off cover last time. (3) THE CHANCELLOR came back from a long break and raced well. You must use him.

Race 10

(2) RADAR CONTACT picks up a catch-driver and returns to the Meadowlands at the condition of her last win. (7) NITE GAMES continues to race well each week. (1) MYSTICAL DIVA gets some class relief.

Race 11

(8) ENOUGH TALK actually showed some life last week. This field lacks a standout and you have to think he’ll be gunning off the wings of the gate tonight. If he can’t win tonight it might be time to consider retirement. (1) REV IT NOW should show speed and get a piece. (5) NEW ZION gets a major driver switch.

Race 12

(2) PACIN YANKEE is undefeated. What more can you ask for? (5) HOW ‘BOUT A SMOOCH comes off a confidence building win. (10) ROCK QUEEN ships in from Balmoral for a good barn.
