Best Bet: YOU’RE MAJESTIC (10th) Spot Play: PIRANHA FURY (4th) Race 2 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool Race 7 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool MEET STATS: 148 - 539 / $947.90 (-$130.10) BEST BETS: 16 - 44 / $53.30 (-$34.70) Race 1 Some people may look at the qualifier from (7) LET’S FALL IN LOVE and think she wasn’t very good, but she did pace home in 26 1/5 while losing to some fast older mares. This looks like a nice spot for her to debut this year. (2) DANIKOVA comes from the same barn as the top choice and Gingras made the decision to stick with #7. They both seem capable on paper. (4) PARKAVENUEJULIEANN knows how to keep pace and get nice checks. Race 2 (3) LOVELY LYNNLY was quite impressive in her last qualifier and seems ready to roll. (7) SMOKE AND MIRRORS could have some nice earning potential but seems likely to head to Canada for Sire Stakes. I’m expecting a conservative drive this week. (1) DEJAROVER raced well with no serious shot of catching a rated winner last time. Race 3 (1) TROPICAL STORM BI has done very well in these Meadowlands amateur races, with a win and two seconds in this series over the last year. As long as Ciuffetelli can work out a clean trip, he has a big shot. (3) GOLD MEDAL SWAN has been spectacular while toying with the field the last two weeks. I just don’t want to accept a short price, and that is clearly in the offing. (5) PARTY ON THE RIVER probably needs them to mix it up a bit to get a win, but he is capable. Race 4 (3) PIRAHNA FURY finished up with plenty left in her lone qualifier this year. The breaking issues from 2017 are of some concern but she should be tough if those problems are behind her now. (1) ABBIE HALL had some sneaky late trot in her qualifier and I wouldn’t be shocked if 2018 was a breakout year. (8) PERFETTO went an easy mile in the morning and while she could probably compete for the win spot, I think she’ll be handled with care. Race 5 (8) JOYFUL GAME drops 5 or 6 classes tonight and really has no excuses for failure. (6) MATTJESTIC TEMPO almost swept the field last week in her second start off the bench. She is a threat here if the top one doesn’t bring her best game. (5) FINA PATINA held well in the stretch in her first start on Lasix. I’ll use her on at least one pick 5 ticket. Race 6 (7) BUEN CAMINO broke in his first start of the year on the half at Yonkers. I’m not too concerned about the miscue and looking for a strong mile at a reasonable price. (5) FLY ON came up a bit short in his lone qualifier. That should tighten him up a bit. (4) ANDY M was knocked out of the race last time but his prior form was fine. Race 7 (7) SUTTON showed last week that he is the best horse in this race when on his game. If the trotting hobbles truly turned him around, the rest of the field is racing for second. (5) ELYSIUM LINDY looked good two starts back and blew up last time. The price should be right if you think there is more in the tank. (10) DOUBLE L LINDY is worth some consideration on the driver change angle to Gingras. (8) OPULENT YANKEE is not in the best of spots this week as a speed player outside of others who figure to leave. (4) PERSEVERANCE is a must in the exotics but I’m not sold on his ability to win this race. Race 8 This is a tough race to decipher. (4) REBEL JET has some class and might be able to tap into it versus this soft group. (7) THE FIRE WITHIN reunites with Marohn this week. (5) MAY I CRUISE WEST gets a slightly better post this time and might find some early speed. Race 9 Despite only eight being on the gate, this is another interesting race with plenty of possible winners. (1) ROCKIN PRALINE steps up tonight but seems more than capable of compositing on a speed scale. Marohn should have her forwardly placed with a big shot at victory. (5) KEYSTONE RIPTIDE picked up a win in this class two starts back. (4) COUSIN MARY returns from a six week break. She has the class to win this if sharp enough. (2) MACHING ME ZILLY should save ground and be an exotics threat. (8) PENPAL can roll past this field if ready off the bench. Race 10 (9) YOU’RE MAJESTIC looked like a new horse charging home in the stretch last week. Perhaps David Miller has the magic touch with this 6-year-old mare. (10) SWEET JUSTICE is down in class and more than capable of charging off the wings to the front. (4) MAJESTIC SUNSET looked like a champ last time; this race is tough. (1) MR LOVER gets a driver change to Gingras and deserves some consideration, but if the top one fires, she wins.  [DRF HARNESS NEWSLETTER: Sign Up for the FREE DRF Harness Newsletter.
