Meadowlands: Friday 4/13 Analysis

MEET STATS: 128 - 426 / $916.20

Best Bet: MONSIGNOR FLAN (1st)      Spot Play: NITE GAMES (9th)

Race 1

(9) MONSIGNOR FLAN raced very well for second last week and lays over this field unless (6) ENOUGH TALK brings a big effort off the bench. The latter qualified pretty well while chasing much better than he faces tonight; big threat. (1) GINGER TREE WANDA drops in her second start off the bench but catches a couple of tough foes.

Race 2

(8) GHIRARDELLI LINDY gets an interesting barn switch to Julie Miller and doesn’t catch the toughest group in the world. (2) LINDY MCDREAMY qualified very well and his debut mile was solid, too. (9) BUZZ BOMB has been awful in his last two but certainly seems to be a player at this level. Maybe the big track will pick up his game.

Race 3

(2) MARYMAC IS A WHACK had no shot from post 10 in her 3yo debut and finds a field without any standouts. I see this gal as potentially live at a huge price. (5) PURE DIAMOND looks like the one to beat. (7) HOW BOUT A SMOOCH qualified back sharply.

Race 4

(3) WHATRUGONNADO blitzed a field at Freehold last week and this bunch doesn’t appear to be much better. (1) BLUE MONSTER moved up the ladder upon arrival and was an even eighth. Now she gets some class relief. (5) CHANGE MAKER blew some of my money when he jumped it off at 4-1. The price will be higher this week but the competition might be slightly tougher as well.

Race 5

(3) NOT AFRAID had no shot last week. Hard to say if we see his A game when he only has to be in the top 10 to make the final; guessing game. (4) ON THE PODIUM scored a victory in second round action. (1A) TROUBLE & (1) TOP BILLING form a strong entry.

Race 6

Any of these seems capable of winning this wide open event. (9) IDEAL NEWTON chased a tough foe last week and Campbell has been hot. (1) RAMONA DISOMMA had no chance from the outside post last time. This would appear to be a good spot for her. (3) SHABALABADINGSONG could get lucky near the engine in a race without a ton of early speed types.

Race 7

(1) DOUBLE UP HANOVER charged home to beat much lesser in his first start for Saunders. If he minds his manners again, he can handle the class rise. (2) BANK PRESIDENT seems to have found his form. (6) BLACKTUXWHITESOCKS took a shot last week and flattened. Perhaps this class break will help. (9) ICE MACHINE can’t seem to get over the hump. This spot is slightly easier.

Race 8

(6) MANNINGLY finds a pretty soft spot this week after saving too much ground last time. (9) BASTILLE is fast enough off the gate to overcome the draw but does have a speedster to his inside. (7) LIVE JAZZ could play a role if he minds his manners.

Race 9

(2) NITE GAMES had no chance after chasing a slow clip last week. This gal is still sharp and has found a much easier spot than last time. (1) SHAYNA BABY was a gutsy winner in her most recent outing; dangerous as the chalk. (5) REILLYS DAUGHTER is hard to toss at this level.

Race 10

(6) ARCH MADNESS always seems to do well when he first comes back from winter vacation. This looks like a good spot to pick up cover and charge past in the stretch. (3) FOUNTAINBLEAU VOLO put himself on the map on the Horse & Groom and deserves respect. (7) HOT SHOT BLUE CHIP has been awesome in the morning. Let’s give him a race to get up to race night speed.

Race 11

(10) CALL THE WARDEN trotted home in :27 4/5 last week to get the job done. This is a weak field and I’m inclined to give him another go. (5) CUZZIN ROB has been racing fairly well lately. (4) EAST CREEK HUCK could steal this on the engine.

Race 12

(3) CUZ SHE CAN grinded pretty well into a slow pace last time and couldn’t get there. She drops again tonight and has a ton of class. (2) BELL ON WHEELS is going well now. (7) SHAKY HANOVER is just that, shaky. She is capable yet unreliable.
