Meadowlands: Friday 3/9 Analysis

Email

MEET STATS: 87 - 295 / $666.80

Best Bet: SHAKY HANOVER (5th)    Spot Play: MASTER BEGONIA (3rd)

Race 1

(1) ORPHAN ANNIE should get away close to the action and has some form on his side. I’ll give him the narrow call in an uninspiring event. (9) QUANTUM CONFIDENT doesn’t face much tonight but was actually in against easier last time. (8) FOGGY LANE K should make the top and get a nice piece of the exotics.

Race 2

(6) MCFLIRTY got a start under her belt up at Saratoga and now ships back down into a cozy $20k claimer; edge. (2) MYSTICAL MJ freefalls a couple of classes and should show more, right? (5) IVANA DANCE looks good if you disregard the second scratched-sick line.

Race 3

(1) MASTER BEGONIA could hack it on the engine last time, but there were no wire to wire winners that night. Now he drops a notch. This looks like a good spot. (6) WINDELL WINKIE drops down but loses Sears; tough call. (2) KEYSTONE ACTIVATOR is the horse Sears settled on. His form has been good since returning from the layoff. (5) ZUMBA MOUSE is capable but has been off form.

Race 4

(2) PUT ON A SHOW draws much better this week and figures to go with early brush tactics to stretch her out a bit before the final. (3) CHANCEY LADY really wasn’t as bad as her line looks. Don’t be shocked if Miller sends her to the top this week. (7) ANNDROVETTE raced very well off the bench last week. I just can’t see her being gunned out from post 9 for this race.

Race 5

(1) SHAKY HANOVER drops once again and has to wake up against this field. (4) RUB THING made a nice move before tiring last time. This mare is better than that and deserves a chance to make amends. (2) SARASTAR has been going well lately. (3) NITE GAMES is a big question mark coming off the scratched-injured line.

Race 6

(9) JK OWHATANITE comes off a nice score, and that was a very slow track, so her time was probably closer to a 1:52 mile. I don’t see much speed in her. She should be gunning to the front again. (6) LOVE YOU ALWAYS is clearly sharp and Tetrick did choose here. (5) CUZ SHE CAN drops out of the Open ranks for this spot, but you have to wonder why Tetrick elected not to drive this classy mare.

Race 7

(9) IN FOCUS has scored off the bench before, so the missed time should not be an issue. As usual, if he behaves, he likely wins. (7) FOUR STARZ CREDIT blitzed a much weaker group last time. (10) LIKE A GATOR is sharp and the usual issue with temperature change coming up from Pompano doesn’t figure to be an issue this weekend. Gingras has done well from post 10. (5) SUGAR QUEEN GABBY is at least an exotics player.

Race 8

(4) BET THE TOWN ships in from Yonkers and drops in class for trainer PJ Fraley. That move usually produces results for this barn. (5) BJS JUPITER won three races here in 2011 with Yannick in the bike. (2) WESTERN AVENUE was a solid winner when last seen at this level with a catch driver.

Race 9

(2) SOAPY SAP usually races well at this level and always gets along nicely with Gingras. (4) NOTORIUS BLUESTONE has been sharp for a few weeks now. This looks like a better spot for him. (1) IN NOMINE PATRI has early speed from the cones. (6) BANK PRESIDENT keeps burning money, but I guess he is capable.

Race 10

(1) WHATS NEW PUSSYCAT moves in from post 10 to the rail and should bring a big effort. (7) BLING comes off a toss out effort on a night when 6 horses went wire to wire and he was stacked last on the rim. (3) GO ON BB is hard to toss at this level.

Race 11

(1) MUST BE THE BUNNY drops down to the $10k claiming level. I’m not the biggest fan of this guy, but this does look like a good spot. (5) ART STAR almost wired the field last time, but that was four weeks ago. (9) BOILER BOB THE QB is another coming off a four week break. Barn has been doing well lately.
