Meadowlands: Friday 3/30 Analysis

MEET STATS: 108 - 377 / $797.60

Best Bet: MYSTICAL MJ (10th)      Spot Play: SMOKIN N GRININ (12th)

Race 1

(1) IMA QUE T moves back inside and faces a sketchy looking bunch; narrow edge. (7) MAMA MADE ME BLUE drops for the red hot Brandon Simpson. (9) CALL THE WARDEN is a clear player if he behaves.

Race 2

(2) LIMA ROCKS is an interesting newcomer from Balmoral. With Gingras in the bike and Alagna making the calls, I feel confident that he has a shot. (3) TROUBLE looked great in the Singer preliminaries. I think he may be the one to beat. (4) NITROGLIDE HANOVER stayed flat with hobbles added. Hmmm. (6) FEEGEE is hard to toss.

Race 3

(5) TOY DELIGHT got parked out behind a decent pace at Freehold in her last pari-mutuel start. Notice in her qualifier she faced some top ladies. Perhaps she could be a surprise package in a field with no killers. (1) HEAVENS BETTORHALF is the clear one to beat but has been far from spectacular. (4) DONNA PARTY does her best work near the lead. Maybe she’ll be sent tonight. (6) TO TELL THE TRUTH fits on form.

Race 4

(8) NOT AFRAID is back in against his peers and should perk up accordingly. (7) ON THE PODIUM should be tight after two solid qualifiers. We’ll find out tonight how good he is. (4) MODERN FAMILY won from post 10 in his career debut. That says something.

Race 5

(6) MONSIGNOR FLAN qualified back well and finds a pretty soft spot. (1) MANNINGLY is his own worst enemy. If he trots . . .  (4) VICTORS VICKY was better last time.

Race 6

(3) BUNNY IN THE BANK gets some much needed class relief tonight. I have to believe she will wake up. (5) SHABALABADINGDONG faces slightly tougher but has been on a roll. (2) SOUTHWIND SWALLOW took a shot last week and could not sustain as the favorite. The price should rise this time around.

Race 7

(4) IN FOCUS is in a much tougher spot this week, but he is as good as any and should offer reasonable value. (1) MARCUS BI held well despite going first over last time. With any decent trip he’ll be there at the wire. (3) OPENING NIGHT was much better in his latest qualifier. Will he show up tonight? (5) ICE MACHINE is a nice trotter; very capable.

Race 8

(8) NITE GAMES is feeling it right now. I love sharp horses taking small class jumps. (2) REILLYS DAUGHTER drops down for a top barn; must use. (1) SOUTHWEST has form on her side.

Race 9

None of these jumps off the page at me. I’ll try (10) TOBER, who showed some life in the Horse & Groom and lured Campbell off two others. (6) ZUMBA MOUSE might actually be the favorite in this spot. I have had trouble guessing right on this guy. (3) BANK PRESIDENT could be on or near the lead against this group.

Race 10

(10) MYSTICAL MJ might have post 10 but faces a very suspect bunch. I expect a big effort from her. (5) SHAYNA BABY showed some small signs of life last time and does drop another notch. (7) MCFLIRTY clearly has a shot but has had too many chances in my book.

Race 11

(4) TEMPLE OF DOOM blitzed lesser in his debut for Team Miller. I see no reason why he won’t be even better tonight. (1) PEMBROKE HEAT WAVE can chase with the best of them and should be close to the action. (2) WESTSIDE LINDY perked up nicely in his latest.

Race 12

(4) SMOKIN N GRININ drops for a good barn and faces an awful bunch. (2) STRATUS goes for a new barn; maybe. (6) RUSTYS MARTINI returns to the level of her last win.
