Race 3 - $35,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Race 7 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

MEET STATS: 49 - 232 / $293.80       BEST BETS: 9 - 20 / $36.40

Best Bet: RAMALAMA (6th)      Spot Play: GAELIC AND GARLIC (1st)

Race 1

(2) GAELIC AND GARLIC has been steadily making his way down the class ladder and now finally reaches the end of the road. I don’t think his form is really that bad. Gelded 4-year-old just needed to find the right spot against older foes to get on a winning track. (5) HEIDI FALLS like his driver have had trouble getting over the hump here this year. That said, they rate a big chance. (3) SMUGGLER HALL might be in an easier spot tonight than those in upstate NY. (9) PAPER BACKED LINDY hasn’t had much luck from off the pace. Maybe with the drop in class Tetrick will gun him out?

Race 2

(5) IL MAGO looked awfully good in victory last week. I’ll give him a shaky vote of confidence in this tough field. (1) ZUMBA MOUSE is certainly feeling it. This group is tougher than what he has been beating but the form is there. (6) ZUEREST has early speed in a field with some late closers; using underneath.

Race 3

(5) TALL COTTON looked very, very good in that recent qualifier. Clearly he’ll have to drop 3 or 4 seconds to win this, but notice that 1:51 4/5 mile from last year and it doesn’t seem that impossible. (7) SEVRUGA posted a game victory off the bench and was rewarded with a week off to recover; hard to toss. (4) ICE MACHINE was coasted along and simply jumped it off for no apparent reason. He’ll make the top in a jiffy tonight.

Race 4

(9) GORDYS FILLY YENTA comes away last every week which is certainly a concern. That said, she is certainly in light against a group that doesn’t exactly promote wagering confidence. (5) LIZZIES DREAM gets a new set of hands at the controls; possible wakeup. (6) CINDEROSA raced well off the bench and could certainly build on that effort. (4) SIR LBS Z TAM figures to be saved early and coming late for a nice check.

Race 5

(9) MELADYS MONET was a good second from post 9 against a tough little mare in her first start of 2013. Most signed on to this event either lack form or class. I can see Miller revving this gal up off the gate and working out the right trip. (1) PEMBROKE PRAYER returns here at a reduced level and has the class to awaken. (2) IN NOMINE PATRI has sucked along decent enough versus better in some faster miles. I wouldn’t be too quick to completely dismiss this guy. (4) SCORPION MOON comes with a long list of question marks. He could win by 5 or watch the field from last.

Race 6

(3) RAMALAMA perked up when she switched to the Burke barn late last year. She is another one coming off a deceptively good qualifier who should be ready to score at first asking. (4) SANGAAL made a nice middle move before tiring last time. She remains in form and other than the top choice doesn’t face a very difficult bunch to defeat. (10) MOJARRA HANOVER has been racing against much better but is stuck with post 10; tough call.

Race 7

(4) UNRED HANOVER was a bit flat off cover last time but this seems like an interesting spot where Pierce can gun to the front and sit a sweet trip; roll the dice. (3) HANDSOFFMYCOOKIE was sharp in her qualifier but I can see them giving her a relaxing start tonight. (6) ROCKLAMATION comes off a stellar 4-year-old season where she should have won Older Pacing Mare of the Year honors. She qualified okay but I’m going to wait a week. (7) NY YANKEES & (8) SOUTHWIND JAZMIN are both capable with the right trip.

Race 8

(1) THE CHANCELLOR finally gets the drop back to his comfort zone. This field came up tough but I’ll give him the edge. (2) NEW ZION has gotten along nicely with Dave Miller. (6) DASH FOR THE CASH gets in a straight B-2 this week. The last time he was at this level he went virtually wire to wire.

Race 9

(7) GORDYYYS PET faced a much better group last week at the B-1 level. Mare has as good a chance as any to take care of business. (4) MISS SAND CREEK has been racing pretty well lately and actually faced some traffic issues last time. (5) DAY BLUE CHIP looks good on paper but is bumping up in class and might be overbet. (3) LOVE YOU BYE hails from the Burke/Gingras dynamic duo and is hard to completely ignore.

Race 10

(3) CHOCOHOLIC has been racing very well lately and the switch to Marcus Miller shouldn’t be a negative. (1) BLOOMFIELDCANTIFLY couldn’t keep it going on the engine. Perhaps new tactics will help. (7) THROUGH THE NIGHT lured Tetrick off my top choice.

Race 11

I’ll be honest and admit that none of these really stick out for me as a good play. My uninspired order of preference: (7) JK LETITGO; (2) MS CAILA J FRA; (3) IDEAL GINNY; (10) CHEYENNE MIRIAM; (8) O NARUTAC ROCKETTE; (4) CRAZY EIGHTS
