Race 1

(4) DANISH DURANGO returns from a freshening and really seems to be in a perfect spot this week. (2) PARTY ON THE RIVER is back in the amateur races where he was doing good work. Can new driver Harmon perform as well as Marohn? (7) URIEL has some early speed in his arsenal and tends to put in a credible race every time. (9) JUSTICE JET failed to fire but still fits well with this group.

Race 2

(1) SING ALONG gets away from Monica Gallagher this week and faces a sometimes camera-shy group. She should be able to shine. (5) ZANE HANOVER has found this level difficult to conquer, but this isn’t exactly a bunch of killers. (4) ESCAPE AGAIN comes in from Yonkers and did race well here in her last go-around.

Race 3

(3) MARION GONDOLIER has three starts in the recent past at this level and all have been from outside posts. Moving to the inside of the gate, I’ll take a shot with him at a price. (2) TROUBLE RIEU N comes off two placings and looks like the horse to beat on paper. That said, as a horse that hasn’t won in years, how do you take a short price? (1) MUAY HANOVER battled and faded last time; another viable price play.

Race 4

(4) NOBLE PRIZE was hung out from post eight at Yonkers in his debut for this barn. Getting the top in this spot should be much easier. (5) PRESIDENTIAL ZETTE comes off two solid efforts and should be used here. (7) MASS PSYCHOLOGY moves into a new barn and deserves at least a look on the track. (3) BREAK FREE should be good for a third or a fourth-place finish.

Race 5

(5) SPILLING THE BEANS has been the victim of outside posts and tougher competition over the last six weeks. Both of those problems are alleviated here and the price should remain right. (2) JADED DREAM & (3) HEARTS N FLOWERS are also getting class relief and more than capable of coming out on top.

Race 6

(2) ROCKIN REDFORD has been too far back in recent weeks and this spot projects as a better one. If Napolitano stays anywhere close to striking distance, he wins. (3) IRON MINE JOHNNY made a mistake last week but does fit with this bunch. (1) KABANG returns to The Meadowlands two classes lower than on Dec. 29. He has a shot in here on best.

Race 7

(6) ANOTHER CHAPTER jumped it off at odds-on last time and will clearly offer better value now. We live in a world of second chances; go get ‘em. (5) MONTALBANO BI finished up willingly with no shot last weekend. If Marohn elects to use his early speed, watch out! (8) SCIROCCO JAKOB & (9) WAITING ON A WOMAN are both moving down the class ladder and either could awaken.

Race 8

I would have preferred to get Napolitano in the bike on (5) UF DRAGON’S QUEEN, but I’m going to stick with this mare anyway on the class drop to the level where she picked up a win two starts back. (1) BRONZE OVER N is another dropping to a more comfortable level; major player. (2) SHUTTHEFRONTDOOR has been racing evenly while mostly facing better competition; upset chance. (4) MONICA GALLAGHER gets tested for class facing older mares this week.

Race 9

(2) STORMONT WIZARD was a horse I was looking to pick against as the chalk, but in the end I couldn’t find another appealing option; weak call. (7) STEED is a decent horse when he stays on the track. Off a good qualifier, I’m intrigued by his chances at a price. (8) ALEXANDER HANOVER is at a winning level if Andy Mille can work out a trip from the outside post. (3) YOU’RE MAJESTIC appears very live on paper, but she came home very slowly while appearing to be held together last time.

Race 10

(4) BELL A CHICK makes his first start in a year but did qualify well. He’s more than capable of pulling off the upset in this bottom condition race. (5) MASSIVE LIGHTNING closed well with Marohn last time and gets another catch-driver this week. (7) COMMENTARY tired after setting a quick clip last time and now gets class relief.

Race 11

(6) KEEGAN HO never got involved last time but finished well. This is a winning spot if he is put in play. (5) FIJI raced well for second last time. (1) A JERSEY CONTRACT can use his inside post to stick close and perhaps pull off an upset.

Race 12

(6) BROADWAY PROMISE finished well last time after chasing slow fractions. Brett Miller only needs to keep this guy in striking position. (1A) MISSLAROSE goes for three straight and comes with a partner. (5) IRON DOME almost rallied into contention after an early break last time.

Race 13

(1) VEGAS IN STYLE has no excuses in this spot. (2) PURITY could fire off the gate against a field like this one and might get brave. (6) BEAUTIFUL LADY is better than her recent performances. (9) MISS BLING has the early speed to make some noise.
