Meadowlands: Friday 2/24 Analysis

MEET STATS: 67 - 227 / $548.40

Best Bet: WESTERN AVENUE (4th)    Spot Play: MMS LUCKY BOY (1st)

Race 1

(6) MMS LUCKY BOY showed up here at this level last May and posted a win and a second. The strong qualifier is a pretty good indicator that he is ready. (3) MAMA MADE ME BLUE ships in from Balmoral for a barn that has done well this meet. It really helps that the biggest speed players are to his inside, which may allow this sometimes slow starter to get away in the front pack. (5) ORANGE BIGI is as good as any in here if ready. (7) MACDEEN STAR drops down.

Race 2

(4) NITE GAMES went a big mile last time and is clearly feeling it now. I’ll take the sharp horse of the class horse the majority of the time. (2) ATHLETICALLYINCLINED double-drops for Burke; respect. (5) COSMO MADNESS & (6) MORWYN HANOVER have each been racing well and are eligible for a piece.

Race 3

(2) ORPHAN ANNIE returned from a 12-week break and chased home some nice mares willingly in her qualifier. She was facing better when last seen in pari-mutuel action. (8) GLAM CAM finished with an impressive charge at big odds last time; capable again. (3) PAY ATTENTION drops down and should improve. (1) MISS BEHAVE is another dropper, and she is in for a tag now. Can you lend me $21k?

Race 4

(2) WESTERN AVENUE reunites with Gingras, who won twice with this guy at Chester a few months back. (1) VILLAGE RHYTHM finally draws well for the new barn; big threat. (4) DA VISSION OF ART scored last time.

Race 5

(4) MARCUS BI toured the track in an even effort after two months off. This is a big test for the now 4-year-old, but you have to jump on board early if you want a big price. (1A) HAVA KADABRA has come back from the layoff in fine form. He could continue to improve. (6) TAKE MY PICTURE beat many of these last week; impossible to toss. (8) ANDERS BLUESTONE just keeps stringing together wins. (9) MAJOR HERBIE posted a sparkling qualifying effort in his first start for Team Miller. I can hear the Lucky Jim comparisons starting already.

Race 6

I’ll single out my top four but really wouldn’t feel comfortable without using all of them in my Pick Four. (3) ELLEOFNXAMPLE has just missed at this level in consecutive starts. Hopefully she can work out a decent trip tonight. (1) GO ON BB drops out of the Cape & Cutter. I assume she will perk up, but at a very short price, I can’t say I love her. (2) WHATS NEW PUSSYCAT returns to the races in the Alagna barn. She actually closed ground on top mare Put On A Shot in her qualifier. (9) JK OWHATANITE is a quality mare with limited starts. This is her 4-year-old debut. She has talent.

Race 7

(4) TSMLIL ORPHAN ANNIE was the fastest of this group last year and raced well against similar in his most recent start; edge. (1) CHANCEY HALL comes over from Yonkers and finds a pretty good spot; Tetrick a plus. (7) MASTER BEGONIA just missed last time despite a one year hiatus; improvement very possible. (6) NOTORIUS BLUESTONE hooks up with Sears again.

Race 8

(1) RUN ON LUCK raced better than I expected in her first try since July 1, 2011. She should be tighter now and this is clearly an easier group than she is used to facing. (7) SUMMER HOPE had all kinds of traffic trouble last time; using on all tickets. (6) BLING looks like the clear chalk with nothing but Open lines at Yonkers on her card. That said, with no starts at the Meadowlands in the last three years, it makes you wonder if she will like the mile oval. (2) CLASSIERIVERBOAT had no shot from outside posts in her last two.

Race 9

None of these stick out for me. I’ll try (5) BABY BLAZE and hope he stays on stride. (1) M C FELIX wired them last time. (7) EAGLE SAY clearly needed the start last time. When she is on her game, she can take these.

Race 10

(4) CROWN LADY comes off a nice uncovered effort and is clearly sharp now. (2) SHAYNA BABY is another mare who is moving in the right direction. (9) SAND PLEASURE may have a tough time winning from post nine but still merits a look in the exotics.

Race 11

(2) ELEGANT GIRL doesn’t inspire me to run to the windows, but gets barn and driver changes and faces an awful group. (4) MY DRAG QUEEN technically steps up in class but may be facing easier. (6) ARIANE HANOVER has a chance with live cover.
