Best Bet: MASSIVE LIGHTNING (12th) Spot Play: ANOTHER CHAPTER (6th) Race 3 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool Race 8 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool MEET STATS: 80 - 296 / $556.70 (-$35.30) BEST BETS: 10 - 23 / $35.90 (-$10.10) Race 1 (9) JUSTICE JET is getting some major class relief this week as he enters the amateur ranks. Veteran Bob Davis can find a way to overcome the bad draw. (4) DRAMA FREE & (5) URIEL are the logical early speed players and either could wire this field if the top choice can’t get a seat close to the action. Race 2 (3) IRON DOME has been just far enough back lately that he can’t get the job done. I’m rolling the dice with him one last time. (8) BROADWAY PROMISE was an impressive qualifying winner and might be ready to shine immediately. (7) DERF HANOVER beat an easier group last time. He has a shot but I’d demand value before considering. Race 3 This is a tough way to start the pick five as this field is devoid of form or viable handicapping angles. I guess I’ll try (3) BRAGADOCIO, who comes off a decent effort after a 23-day break and in his first start for this barn. (5) RUDDY RUSTY finished almost two lengths behind the top pick last week but did show good early speed that night. (2) BOLD FRESH was used up in the pace and paid the price last time out. Race 4 (8) TOUCHAMATIC looks like the best horse in the race if ready in her first start off the bench. Qualifier was solid and there seems to be ample early speed to set her up from behind. (9) MONICA GALLAGHER comes off a win in this class and looks like the obvious chalk. (6) SING ALONG has a string of solid performances to her credit. (2) ZANE HANOVER & (1) SHAREN HANOVER look like exotics players. Race 5 (5) COMMENTARY stayed flat and did his best to close into a slow pace last Friday. Now that he has that clean mile under his belt I’m expecting a more aggressive showing. (2) MISSLAROSE comes off a win and now pivots to a different class to stay in as cheaply as possible; using. (4) STITCH IN TIME is down in class and eligible to win and stay in this condition. (7) ROCKIN REDFORD was handled conservatively and had no shot last out; threat with clean trip. Race 6 (6) ANOTHER CHAPTER gets his first real test tonight facing a quality field of older foes. If he is as good as I think he may be, this might be the last time we get a decent price on him until he hits the Open class. (1) UPFRONT BILLY has enough early speed from the cones to secure position and be a major player. (3) ROUNDTOWN ROCKER raced well on the engine from post 10 on a night when there were no wire to wire winners. (4) YOU’RE MAJESTIC has some talent. Maybe now that she is back in the U.S. with her trainer we’ll see better results. Race 7 (10) SAFE FROM TERROR arrives from Ohio in good form and enters a top barn. Classy 6-year-old is more than capable of blasting from post 10 and going down the road. (1) BETTORHAVEANOTHER got beat by a quality horse with the perfect trip last time. (3) KEYSTONE RIPTIDE brushed and tired last time. A better trip from off the pace would help her chances. Race 8 (6) CELEBRITY PEGASUS wasn’t going to win from off the pace last week after chasing in a 58 2/5 middle half. This field is loaded with early speed types and should set him up nicely. (9) OPULENT YANKEE has already bested this class in multiple weeks and was rewarded with post 9 for his efforts. If he can clear the lead, watch out. (2) BEE IN CHARGE should be the first to the front and might just get a ground-saving trip, enough to pick up an exotics slot. Race 9 (6) SKIPPIN BY came up short after a quick opening quarter when coming off a four week break. I’m expecting her to be tighter this week. (9) CHEYENNE ROBIN & (10) SPILLING THE BEANS both closed well last time but must find a way to the winner’s circle from the far outside posts. Race 10 (6) LONG STORY SHORT lands in a good spot this week where Dobson can be aggressive. This guy has won nearly twice as many races as the rest of the field combined. (7) PARTY ON THE RIVER is an obvious contender switching from Roy Marohn to Gingras, but that will come with a very short price, likely. (4) PILGRIMS TIDE raced OK here from an outside post a few starts back. Race 11 (4) WALKS OF LIFE has won two straight at this level and shouldn’t be hurt by the addition of Brett Miller in the bike. (3) FLY’N WITH ROYALTY is coming off a sharp win of his own and Ginsburg did choice this guy over my top pick. (1) DANISHDUJOUR has a win and two second in his last four starts for this claiming tag; value play. (7) ENERGY SHAKES is capable with the right trip. Race 12 (2) MASSIVE LIGHTNING is way down in class and picking up a catch-driver this week. There really are no excuses for failure. (1) REAL DJ HANOVER gets class and post relief. It is worth nothing that this barn won twice here last weekend. (5) HOT SUMMER KNIGHT has been done in by bad posts lately; very playable. Race 13 (7) FIRE N DIAMONDS has been racing steadily of late and seems to be in the need of a wake-up call. New driver Yannick Gingras can provide the added firepower. (6) FEELIN RED HOT perked up nicely for her new barn with Lasix added. (5) MISS DEFIANCE couldn’t handle the time on the rim most recently; could show more here. (4) FIRST DELIGHT gets a better post and a barn change.  [DRF HARNESS NEWSLETTER: Sign Up for the FREE DRF Harness Newsletter. Fresh content and insights delivered each Thursday.]
