Race 1

(2) JK LOCKHERUP qualified very well here from off the pace before failing in her career debut on the engine at Philly. Maybe she prefers to be covered up at this point in her career? I’ll almost always take the newcomer in a field of lackluster foes. (4) LOTUS SEELSTER wasn’t done any favors by those outside posts at Saratoga recently and now she picks up Brett Miller, too. (6) LIVIN THE MOMENT raced well in her Rick Dane Jr barn debut; more now?

Race 2

(8) LADY EAGLE raced rather well considering she had outside posts in both starts since joining this barn. There are no killers in here and I’m certain she’ll be handled somewhat aggressively. (2) MRS FRANK qualified nicely but could very well be bet heavily off just a 1:59 mile. Two-year-old daughter by Kadabra seems to have some ability but anything under 2-1 seems way too low. (1) REGAL HILL raced evenly here last week and wouldn’t be a shock if he sat a nice trip.

Race 3

(6) STEALTH BOMBER was thought to be a good one earlier this year but it never panned out. He comes back off a two month freshening and catches a soft group. (7) HOME JAMES makes a key move from NW8500 to this NW3; expecting a strong performance. (8) BIG STRETCH MARK just missed in a quick mile last week. Keep in mind he doesn’t like to win, with a 57-4-15-13 career record.

Race 4

I’m not usually a huge ‘driver change guy’, but (1) NEPTUNE picking up Marohn this week is big. Eight-year-old has class and early speed. He figures to show both tonight. (8) ROGER MACH EM drops down this week and should be heard from at some point in the mile. (2) HOPE FOR BADLANDS has a couple of starts under his belt now after missing a couple of months of action; could show more.

Race 5

(4) DOC’S BOY was trapped last week and clearly had something left in the tank. He gets a better post this week and should be placed into contention. (9) STARDUST MEMORIES comes off a sharp win and is the clear and obvious favorite to repeat. (6) BRANDOS MUSCLE MAN raced well when last hooked up with a catch-driver and did well here last year in December; using. (1) TEASIN N PLEASIN has been a bit better with Lasix added.

Race 6

(4) MONTALBANO BI saved ground and surged to the front at the wire last Friday despite missing four months of action. Staying in the same class he is very capable of repeating. (3) LAUDERDALE never got involved from the outside post last time but is very capable of taking this field down the road on the front. (1) GWALLY is down in class and fast enough to compete given a decent trip.

Race 7

(1A) IDEAL MATTERS gets my class call here as a veteran who clearly woke up in his first start for the new barn. The outside post is somewhat concerning, but at least he comes with a very capable entrymate in Cardiac Fashion just in case. (3) KOTARE YAEL N should offer much better value this week after failing at 1-5 last out. Win or loss, he’ll most likely be in the number somewhere. (2) ALL IT TAKES is the third Burke barn entrant along with the top pick entry. He comes off a nice try and could certainly be tighter in his second start after a month off. (4) MOONLIGHT RANSOM broke a long losing streak in the elimination leg of this mini-series. Maybe trainer Jennifer Bongiorno has him figured out.

Race 8

(2) PAINITE comes off an even effort and now moves down the class ladder. There are no standouts in here and she should offer plenty of value. (3) QUICK DEAL was no doubt disappointing last week at 2-5. I’m inclined to give him one more shot here on my pick four tickets. (4) SOUTH SIDE HANOVER raced well on the front last Friday and certainly merits some consideration staying at the same level. (9) GONNA FLY adds a catch-driver this week.

Race 9

(1) SWORD OFTHE SPIRIT sucked along in the preliminary leg of the G-Notes three starts back and came back in the consolation with a big mile. Now he is coming off a similar even mile last time and I’m expecting another big follow-up tonight. (2) BAGGAGE CLAIM couldn’t get involved from post 10 last week. Four-year-old should have a say in here. (7) NITRO GLISTENING seems to be in a decent shot to flash early speed and get into the exotics.

Race 10

(1) EVERY INTENTION was used hard last time and held reasonably well considering the trip. Five-year-old moves inside now and seems sharp enough to take a blank field. (5) SAND BENELLI arrives in fine form and trainer David hops out of the bike for a catch-driver. (3) MUST BE THE BUNNY is another coming in from out of town who gets a new pilot in the bike.

Race 11

(6) MADE OF JEWELS AS is coming off just an even PP line which won’t show that she dealt with traffic during the mile. Class drop tonight should help and some early speed seems likely. (4) WEEKEND GETAWAY ships in from Saratoga where she had a string of outside posts. This is a good spot for her and the switch to an aggressive pilot in Bill Mann could help. (8) MCACE OF ARTS comes off a nice win but faces tougher this week. (10) WHISKERSONKITTENS drops despite coming off a pretty nice effort; post hurts.
