Centurion ATM didn't fool many as the even-money choice.

Trainer/driver Ake Svanstedt guided Centurion ATM to a stakes and track record performance in capturing the $355,500 Peter Haughton Memorial for juvenile colt trotters Saturday afternoon at the Meadowlands.

A son of S Js Caviar, Centurion ATM followed up his elimination score with a powerful 1:53 2/5 effort albeit aided by breaks in stride in the race by many of the other contenders.

Uncle Lasse and Ron Pierce jetted to the front early from post seven and had the lead in the :28 opening quarter. Svanstedt sent Centurion ATM sharply to the lead past the quarter and from that point was on his own. The team cut fractions of :56 4/5 and 1:25 before sprinting off in :28 2/5 with Uncle Lasse comfortably behind him in second.

Longshot Cruzado Dela Noche finished third.

Contenders Canepa Hanover and Guess Whos Back both made breaks in stride while attempting to attack the winner past the halfway point.

Owned by Courant AB and Knutsson Trotting Inc., Centurion ATM upped his career earnings to over $200,000 in his first season of racing.

Sent off as the even money favorite Centurion ATM returned $4.20 to win.

“It’s fantastic,” said M. Knutsson, co-owner of the colt in the winner’s circle following the race. Knutsson shares ownership in Sebastian K as well.
