Brett Miller drove himself into the record book on Friday night at The Meadowlands when he steered eight winners across the wire first to tie the all-time mark for victories on one program at the New Jersey oval. The record-equaling win for Miller came with Great Soul in the final race on the card. The 43-year-old practically threw the kitchen sink at Great Soul as he vigorously urged home the now 37-time career winner. Miller moved into a dead-heat with Mike Lachance, who set the eight-win plateau back on July 14, 1995. Ironically, Lachance celebrated his 66th birthday on Friday. Miller scored his eight wins with: Pedro’s Dream; Statesman N; K-Lees Shakenbake; City Hall, Somesizesomestyle; Gambler’s Tale; Always A Diamond; Great Soul. Earlier on the card, a victory by Mister Truth at 98-1 caused a pick five carryover of $25,874 for the track’s next card on Thursday, December 22. The wager begins in race one.
