Bee A Magician is perfect in two starts this year.

Bee A Magician didn’t let post ten be a deterrent, putting in a powerful mile in capturing the $50,000 Arthur Cutler Memorial Prep at the Meadowlands on Saturday night. The five-year-old, driven by Scott Zeron, scored in 1:51 3/5 leaving her rivals in the dust and likely stepping into the May 16 final as the morning line choice.

Trainer ‘Nifty’ Norman had indicated that he didn’t want to give Bee A Magician a hard trip and Zeron looked like he was trying to take it easy. “I was floating her out of there and looking for a second or third over trip,” Zeron said. “When no one else left I just moved her to the front.”

Bee A Magician got the opening quarter in 27 4/5 and then yielded when DW’s NY Yank made a brisk move down the backstretch for Yannick Gingras. The half was 55 4/5 and Zeron didn’t wait for the three quarters to get out of the pocket. “She kind of pulled me out,” said Zeron, who went right by the leader past the 1:24 3/5 three quarter call and cruised off effortlessly.

Wind Of The North showed early speed and angled free late for the place spot with favored Melady’s Monet grinding late for third.

The 2013 Horse of the Year was undefeated as a three-year-old and now with two consecutive wins in 2015 has regained the winning habit. Owned by Melvin Hartman, Herb Liverman and David McDuffee, the daughter of Kadabra won for the 33rd time in her brilliant career.
