Meadowlands Analysis: Saturday 1/28/12

MEET STATS: 18 - 91 / $186.80

Race 1

(2) ALEX BULLVILLE was aimed too high in the Clyde Hirt series. This class should be right up his alley, and if he wins he gets a free ride in the class next week.(6) LETS GETIT STARTED was used hard trying to get the front and really can’t be faulted for making a break. With smoother sailing he should have a big say. (5) DRAGON KING gets some much needed class and post relief. (3) JIMS GUY is another dropper with a shot.

Race 2

(1) CRUZNWITHDABIGDOG had a long journey last week and has been in pretty tough lately. This looks like a wakeup spot. (2) JIMMY WHIZBANG raced pretty well upon arrival when you consider that he missed five weeks of action. (10) MCKEE LARGO was racing well at Chester and his qualifier makes you think he has kept his form.

Race 3

(2) KEEP GOING appeared to be locked in the pocket but really had no shot regardless because (1A) ITRUSTYOU got away with soft fractions on the engine. The fact is that Keep Going is proven as fast as or faster than Itrustyou, and he’ll be a better price. The latter has won nine straight; enough said. (4) AVENUE HANOVER swept past the field in round two action. The waters are deeper tonight. (1) INTRIGUED ROYALLY is another of the four-headed Burke entry that has a chance.

Race 4

(8) ALL SHUTTLE had lots of 2011 wins and qualified back sharply. Also, let’s remember that this barn has been hot. (5) DOLLARS BROMAC N is a rare horse that was claimed by connections that typically concentrate on upper-level horses; interesting. (6) BEST MAGIC is clearly going well now.

Race 5

(9) GET IT NOW can’t get an awful trip every week, can he? (2) FUTURE CHARACTER was helped by the drop in class last time. (3) ARDUOUS moves way inside this week and should show some improvement.

Race 6

(2) BOLERO ANDREW has come up with big efforts in both rounds of this series and seems likely to offer a fair price at post time. Truth be told, this race is wide open if you can look past (8) SPECIAL T ROCKS, who posted a monster mile in victory last week and is undefeated on the year. (7) CAM B ZIPPER was driven to one of the worst trips I have ever seen, three-wide for half of the backstretch and parked to the five-eighths. The fact that he only lost by 7 lengths is a major accomplishment. (6) THEBESTOFJOEL had a few moves in the tank last week. He seemed a bit hot at times. Can he be patient if need be? (1) REAL FLIGHT is part of a PJ Fraley entry that merits a look.

Race 7

(8) WARNING ZONE has been smoking the competition on the engine and looks primed to do it again. (3) TRANSCENDING chased the top one home last week; sharp. (4) NOB HIL HIGH drops out of the Presidential series but doesn’t exactly face an easy bunch. (1) DOUBLETROUBLE was much better last week. I’ll be using him on my Pick 4 tickets because he can roll when right.

Race 8

(2) NOBLE FALCON closed nicely from a tough spot last time and seems like a good win candidate once again. (7) WESTERN TRADEMARK finished fast to win last time but steps up a notch. (4) WESTERN SHORE has loads of class and drops way down. Can he find some form?

Race 9

(4) FALL BLISS was actually on the early lead last week only to get shuffled back. He drops out of the Clyde Hirt series and should fit nicely with this group. (2) WHOGOESFIRST drops down after failing as the favorite against better. (10) TUNEARIFFIC also exits some tough series action.

Race 10

(4) BLATANTLY GOOD raced a bit better last week and does have a Presidential title in his closet. I’m not sure if the old guy has a huge effort in him on Saturday, and I may change my mind by the time I put any bets in, but I’m going to roll the dice with him. (2) GOLDEN RECEIVER has been awesome this year, but that has been without anyone really testing him too hard. Let’s see what happens if he has to go toe to toe with another horse for half of the mile. He will have to earn it. (9) VINTAGE MASTER stepped up in a big way last week and he is retiring after this race, so you have to think he won’t be leaving anything on the track. (3) RIVER SHARK is impossible to toss.

Race 11

(3) SIR ZIGGYS Z TAM qualified back nicely and gets a major switch to Sears. I'm going to bite on that switch. (7) STRAND HANOVER has a couple of starts back under his belt now and moves in a few spots. (4) CODE WORD is off a nice win.

Race 12

(10) SAND SAVAGE has been a bit better than his recent results would indicate. Don't be shocked if this guy is in the photo at a nice price. (5) RUNAWAY FIRE A raced pretty well in his last try here. (1) MORTALITY had no chance in the Clyde Hirt. This is a much easier spot.

Race 13

(5) SCARE TACTICS N put in an even mile versus better from an outside post in his most recent attempt. It is not too much of a stretch to think he can win this event. (1) MEANT TO BE ME was okay when dropped to this level last time; using. (4) ULTIMATE DESIRE gets class relief and finally draws well, too.
