Meadowlands Analysis: Friday 2/17/12

MEET STATS: 54 - 193 / $471.60

Best Bet: AIR GUITAR HANOVER (10th)   Spot Play: TAKE MY PICTURE (5th)

Race 1

(1) REDWHITENBLUESTONE scored here against easier two back before breaking at Yonkers. I see plenty of question marks signed on, so I’ll roll the dice on a barn that has been hot. (5) WINDELL WINKIE went a tough mile when last on the track, but that was four weeks ago. If he is ready, he’ll be worth using. (7) HALFPIPE switches to Pierce.

Race 2

(1) GERRIES MADISON toured the track last time versus better foes. Veteran mare will not find an easier spot. (3) SANDY ABSOLUT drops again. She can’t be as bad as she looked last time. (4) MATTIES BIG GIRL was flat last time; adds Sears. (2) THREE TO FIVE is another getting a new pilot.

Race 3

(3) SHESA BRAGN DRAGON was facing more difficult competition at Yonkers and when she was last seen here. She’ll probably offer value tonight in this wide open event. (7) SUMMER HOPE was better last time; Burke and Gingras combo. (8) RUN ON LUCK is a classy mare who must have some issues if she is in for only $30k. I’ll watch one before jumping on board.

Race 4

(2A) ROYAL CEE CEE N finished up willingly once again last week. She has two starts under her belt now. While post 10 will present some difficulties, I think she will take a step forward. (5) HIGHER AND HIGHER has been a force in 2012, with four wins in as many starts. The road to the winner’s circle goes through her. (1B) ROCK N SOUL probably should have won last week, but I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt because it was only her second start of the year. You get three for one if you like her.

Race 5

(1) TAKE MY PICTURE closed well from way back despite chasing lackluster fractions posted by (2) HAVA KADA. I expect Sears will have this classy guy closer to the action this week. The latter made two moves and dug in. He could be tighter in his second start since November. (3) AISLING will enjoy the better post; gets piece. (4) DON’T KNOW CHIP was okay off the bench. This guy can put up a big mile from times to time.

Race 6

(7) ASTREAS NOTICE gets a bit of class relief in this weak NW $16,000 event. I'm not sure why she scratched last time at Yonkers but I think it will only help the price. (3) REILLYS DAUGHTER & (5) ELLEOFNXAMPLE clearly have a form edge on the rest of the field. (6) RUB THING joins the Allard barn now and adds Sears. I usually like to watch a start when they ship up from Florida, but she is certainly worth a look on the track.

Race 7

(6) FOUNTAINBLEAU VOLO only seems to trot in the morning when Miller is in the bike. Well, Miller is signed on tonight, so why not take a shot? (10) IN FOCUS is clearly best on paper. If Takter can get him around the first turn and to the top, the race is probably over. (7) FOUR STARZ CREDIT should enjoy the class relief tonight.

Race 8

(8) REI OF SUNSHINE was uninvolved last week in a tour of the track. Sears joins the team this time around. That alone could lead to better things. (4) TRUST MY HEART has been up and down the class ladder. This is a slightly easier spot. Don't be shocked if Dube gets her going early. (5) SHAYNA BABY has been racing well despite outside posts.

Race 9

(5) WINUENDO always seemed to have talent but never seemed to tap into his full potential. Now in the Miller barn and off a good qualifier, perhaps he will get going. (6) CHAPLIN HALL comes off some good efforts. (2) KINGS CAVALIER drops down and adds Tetrick; things to like.

Race 10

(7) AIR GUITAR HANOVER was raced conservatively and flew home late. I'm thinking that Campbell will hit the gas early tonight. (5) JAMIE SUE raced well in both legs and only needs a smoother trip to get top honors. (1A) WINNING IT has gotten her own way on the engine. If she is allowed to do her own thing again, she'll probably win.

Race 11

(3) EQUINOX SEELSTER has been okay from outside posts for a barn that has been sneaky good this meet. He moves inside against a wide-open bunch tonight. (5) DID IT AGAIN qualified back with a strong final quarter for trainer Allard. (7) LEMON DROP HALL certainly looks like a player, but notice he is 0 for 4 here over the last two years. (1) BUTN YOUR SHIRT ED is a possible long shot from another good barn.
