McCarthy out for two to four weeks

Jockey Mike McCarthy will be out of action for several weeks while recuperating from injuries sustained when his mount, Live Wire Lil, fell shortly after the finish of Tuesday's eighth race at Delaware Park.

According to his agent, Ed Fair, McCarthy broke several ribs and will be unable to ride for two to four weeks. McCarthy, the leading rider at Delaware for five seasons, currently ranks second in the standings with 36 wins.

Live Wire Lil, a 4-year-old filly trained and owned by Steve Klesaris, got up shortly after falling and escaped serious injury.
