Maryland Racing Media Association crab feast honors three

The Maryland Racing Media Association will hold its annual crab feast Saturday after the races at Laurel Park. This year’s honorees are Harold Snyder, jockey Victor Carrasco, and trainer Kieron Magee.

Snyder will receive the Humphrey S. Finney Award for lifetime contributions to the Maryland horse racing industry. Snyder is the chairman of International Sound Corp., which provides video production, digital graphics, sound, photo finish, and timing systems for racing.

Carrasco, the Eclipse Award-winning apprentice of 2013, will be given the Dale Austin Newsmaker Award.

Magee came out of nowhere to finish fourth in the 2013 Laurel Park fall trainer standings and then tied for first at the Laurel Park winter meet. He has been voted the Nancy Alberts Achievement Award.

An auction will also be held as a fundraiser for the Maryland Racing Media Association scholarship fund.

The dinner, which is open to the public, will be held in the Carriage Room at Laurel Park and begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $60. Tables of 10 are $550.
