Maryland Million card rescheduled

Laurel was forced to cancel its Maryland Million card Saturday after heavy rains resulted in flooding in central Maryland. A total of 6 1/2 inches had fallen by Saturday morning, with another one to three inches expected.

"After consulting with the Maryland Million officials we made a collective decision to cancel," said Lou Raffetto, chief operating officer for the Maryland Jockey Club. "We would not have done them justice by conducting racing on a day such as this."

The 12-race Maryland Million program has been rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 15. The Grade 3, $150,000 Safely Kept Breeders' Cup, scheduled for Oct. 15, will now be contested on Oct. 16.
