Mary Anne's Jet tries to top her dam

Mary Anne's Jet will try to do what her mom couldn't do in 1999 and win the $45,000 Mystery Jet Stakes on Saturday at Suffolk Downs.

Owned by Krystyna Stable, Mary Anne's Jet is a daughter of A. P Jet out of the two-time Massachusetts-bred stakes winner E. J.'s Laura. E.oJ.'s Laura won stakes as a 5-year-old, but settled for second in the Mystery Jet when she tried the six-furlong race for 3-year-old statebred fillies eight years ago.

The Mystery Jet is the first race of the year for Mary Anne's Jet after a win and a second as a 2-year-old. That runner-up finish came in her debut in the Amelia Peabody Stakes last November behind returning rival Lily's Goldmine.

Lily's Goldmine is making her 13th start of the year and is still in search of her first win since the Amelia Peabody. She spent the winter in Maryland and has had to take on older horses in search of competition since returning to Boston. This will be her first race in a field of

3-year-olds since April. She was third in the Isadorable Stakes behind perennial champ Ask Queenie two weeks ago.

The maidens Bright Tomorrows, Miss Hedy, and Halo It's Me complete the five-horse field.
