Marinello charged with murder

Vince Marinello, known best around New Orleans as a radio personality but known in racing circles for his work on in-house television at Fair Grounds, is in custody at Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna, La., booked on second-degree murder charges for the killing of Mary Elizabeth Marinello, Marinello's wife since October 2004. The Marinellos were in the middle of divorce proceedings, according to reports in the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Mary Marinello was shot twice in a parking lot in Metairie, La., on Thursday afternoon and died of her wounds late Thursday evening.

Authorities allege that Vince Marinello disguised himself with a fake mustache and beard, bicycled from his vehicle to the crime scene to conduct the killing, then left on bicycle before driving away. Police investigating the crime, according to the Times-Picayune, claim to have powerful evidence against Marinello. A post-crime to-do list - including tasks such as throwing away the murder weapon - was said to have been found at Marinello's home, a trailer of the sort issued by the Federal Emergency Management Association to people displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
