ELMONT, N.Y. – Jockey Rajiv Maragh, sidelined for the last 15 months due to serious injuries suffered in a spill at Belmont in July 2015, rode a horse around the shed row for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin on Wednesday and Thursday mornings for about 10 to 15 minutes. He said he planned to ride one on the track Friday morning.

“Feels routine,” Maragh said. “Feels like the last 15 months never happened. I’m just back to where I was.”

Maragh, who fractured his back and ribs two years ago, has not set a timetable for his return to race-riding.

“After a week or two, I’ll have a better idea,” Maragh said. “Once I start galloping and a couple of horses are pulling on me and I get down and start breezing. I’m really excited that I felt good on the horse. I felt like I was in total control.”
